ESPN promotes and glamorizes gambling. Sure, but they are not the one's totally responsible for addictive gambling, and this piece looks like something to counter act the Dr. Bob piece last week.

People will bet sports regardless of the attempts to limit it to Vegas. The real problem occurs when you get over you head and have to find ways to pay off your mounting debts.

A little discussion on the line, Shapp tries to compare picking sports to picking stocks and objects to promoting gambling at ESPN. Funny when someone in the room sounds (or tries to sound) surprised at "52%?!" - (thinking anything over 60% is easy?)

Yes I watched that E:60 actually and the one girl on there did mention that they air a lot of poker and gambling... She admits they promote it...

The reason why the killing took place was because the one guy cheated the other out of 17K... What I found most interesting is they showed my favorite book of course (sportsbook.com) but SAID "OLYMPIC SPORTS"...

I hear a ton of mention of ATS nowadays in the media. Also, I've seen less mistakes of the wrong team being called the underdog/favorite (based on the spread).

I can't explain exactly what has irritated me but everything from Tony Kornheiser on Monday Night Football to the countless self promotions that you have to endure have really annoyed me with them.

i personally hate their "espn insider" bs, like anyone in their right mind would pay so as to read an article about questions emailed to some 80 year old nobodys named bob gibbons, a brilliantly titled article "inside edge: carmona needs to throw more strikes" or one that is titled, my hand to god, "kiper: 5 games worth watching"

not to mention how espn must rank everything sports related into a top 10 or top 100 or top 318 or put everything in a bracket and have a tournament to decide such items as best uniform, best boy band, best condiment to go a damn reuben sandwich or whatever the hell else it is they keep wasting airtime with

though if SI could get their crap together, they could make a run at taking espn down a peg, though if they havent done it by now i dont see them doing it at all (not that SI is all that much better)

For the life of me I cant understand why they ran this. ESPN radio last year ran ads for tout services. I called once out of curiosity when the guy offered a free pick. When I called the guy then went on to tell me that he was involved in fixing games. He had advertised on the Herd! Then as said already they do all the poker coverage and they always pick against the spread every week. Even mike and mike pick against the spread. Hypocrisy at its finest.
