Default Do you bet heavy favorites moneyline?

I've never been able to lay more than -150 on a game/event and very rarely will go over -120. I pretty much always bet the spread on favorites in the NFL, and take the -1.5 in baseball and hockey. I bet the moneyline on straight upsets in all 3 sports.

Is this pretty common, or do most of you bet -200s and -300s frequently?

Not all at. I use them in parlays often though.

I don't have a cutoff, but I'd say I wager 95% of my ML bets on dogs. Did have two chalks last night in Silva and Bonnar in UFC though (risked 1 unit, not to win 1 unit).

I touched on this issue in another thread.

If I bet heavy chalk its usually in a parlay. I rarely play heavy chalk straight up. If its pucks, I like to lay the -1.5 to get a better price.

I very seldom play chalk. That has been my way for decades. And yet a couple of the most memorable betting streaks of my life were all about big faves.

There was a 3-4 year period in the 90's where I bet almost every start by Greg Maddux and Randy Johnson. They were DOMINANT.

I remember a lot of -240 lines. And I remember their teams going, like, 30-5 in their starts each year. Very profitable run.

Since then I've always been on the lookout for similarly dominant pitchers. I had a few little runs like that. Pedro Martinez and Roy Halladay have done some business for me at different times.

Obviously there are many pitchers' seasons I wish in hindsight I had jumped on. But it's not something I'm going to force. I haven't placed a bet on that basis for probably a couple years.

I believe I placed one bet on the CFL last year and it was on a -200 ML favorite. I had the information - it was a big bet - and it won (easily).

    There are spots for chalk.

I don't know if this means anything but if you bet favs on the ML over -250 today you went 7-0.
