I have a few questions about using a ledger for the fall.

So I am using Microsoft Excel to list all my transactions this football season. I really want this to be organized and I'd like some advice from guys who have used things like this in the past. For me, organization is key. So my plan is to create a spreadsheet and in that spreadsheet I have columns of each variable that I intend to keep track of.

So far these are the variables I have listed: GAME, DATE, BOOK, BETID, WAGER (I.E. SIDE, TOTAL, ML), BET AMOUNT, PRICE, SCORE, OUTCOME (I.E. WIN, LOSS, PUSH), AND AMOUNT WON/LOST.

Is there any other variable that I am missing here, that I shouldn't include, or are there any othe ways to go about this in a better and more productive way.

You might want to go with "risk amount" for "bet amount" and have another column with moneyline bet was made at so you can have a calculated "Won/(Loss)".

It doesn't look like you have a column for the name of the team you bet (in addition to the x@y "Game" field) which might be good to have so you'll have a better chance of remembering games when you're looking over your ledger at the end of the year.

I gave up on excel because after you enter too many bets it reallys slows down

I just use a server now and it has unlimited memory and never is slow and can access from anywhere and any computer

What server do you use? How much does it cost?

I have found that for NCAAF and NCAAB, it's good to have a column for rotation #. Maybe you had that in mind when you said, GAME. It just makes it easier to track scores for the more off-the-beaten-track games.

I personally have a column for notes which I usually just use to remind myself what I want to happen. If you're doing all straight bets, then that would be redundant. But sometimes I've got so many bets and some of them are arbs and middles where I've got bets on both sides but there is some strategic advantage to one outcome or I want a quick reminder that I'm cheering for PHILLY by exactly 6 (or whatever).
