You should have known it was a scam. Cigarette packs are individually wrapped in plastic, so if they spilled water on a carton, nothing would happen. You can throw a pack of cigarettes in a pool and let it float for hours, and the cigarettes inside will be nice and dry (personal experience). It was probobly some broke ass, who didnt have any money for cigarettes that lived next door or across the street. So when you put the cigs there, they grabbed em while you were at the door talking to Mr Wife Beater. That wasnt even their house!!!
