    Default Definition of Syndicate

So what is a syndicate? I belong to a BUNCH of sports services and the second the line comes out I jump all over the bets. I know some of these services have maybe 50 other clients, some have maybe just 3 or 4. Are these syndicates? Will they be treated as a syndicate?

A Syndicate is a group of guys betting together to circumvent limits. Sometimes they are even partners and other times the leader of the Syndicate has beards working for him.

    Newguy,

Any smart book, would likely subscribe to the same services you do, simply to know wwhat to expect the public to ebt on. MVP is a great example of that.

As raiders pointed out, a syndicate is where frineds work together to circumvent limts. Books can often identify them by the types of wager they are betting on. Though i imagine t\it is possible that friends who im one anohter with arb opportunties could potentially be mistaken for being in a syndicate. But what the books really hate are syndicate players who are playing steam.

had heard of the term syndicate, but really didn't know what they were all about...is this why we see late line movements on a lot of games...a lot of action on one side at once?...

Sometimes it does. Line moves happen for a lot of reasons. Spiros, the head of Olympic, told me a story when I was there in October of accidently moving a game from -1 to -4 when he meant to move it to -1.5. He takes a dinner break not realizing the error and comes back and every book in the world has -4 and even -4.5 and -5 !!! So he calmy moves the line back to -1.5 and everyone follows.

Line moves are like stock prices making a move... you can never be sure who is behind it or if there really is a reason behind them.

    Hi Marc

Well I doubt the books have the same touts as me, they're not the huge ones, just little services with good guys I've run into here and there, and some information exchanging. See is this situation gonna burn me: this guy I know kills certain exotics. He makes the bet and calls me just as he does so we basically get them in together. We get the bet in at the same time. Then I call my friend and they bet it (still within a minute). And who knows what my friend does with it? Almost every day. In this case, we're totally independent and playing our own money. But I'd hate to see how it looks. Just like blackjack- you gotta scurry out with sports like a criminal. lol.

There's a new kiiid in tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooown

"A Syndicate is a group of guys betting together to circumvent limits."

So even if its just information sharing and people independently betting the same stuff, they'll just ASSUME syndicate? It seems like you'd need actual proof somehow to take such a drastic measure as withholding money or something like that. Isn't that what these forums are here for? Don't people release plays? Now if its not a Major sport, if you release every day you are a "syndicate?"

They won't assume syndication on the basis of a single bet. But if a number of the same people bet the same games at around the same time at the same price then there's a nice piece of circumstantial evidence.

Taco- Please stop giving out advice....... As Marc stated if you are all playing steam at the same time beating books to numbers then they'll consider you a Syndicate.
