Default Did Pinnacle save the offshores??

Yes, to a point they did. Pinnacle was already hurting their competitors well before new anti-gaming laws were passed in the US. That trend would have likely expanded dramatically had they not abandoned the US market. At first glance it's easy to think that would have been fine, they are the best book out there. On second thought imagine the potential and rather likely consequences. Pinnacle grows and attracts business away starting a rash of sportsbook closures. Goodbye CRIS, WSEX and TheGreek and others like a 5Dimes and so on.

We were on track towards having the ole proverbial all the eggs in one basket scenario. Had that happened a tactful and effective move by the US government would have been to simply go after Pinnacle.

The idea that Pinnacle is gone is tough medicine for the players and the industry. However, it’s very possible that things worked out for the best. There remains over a dozen A rated sportsbooks that offer a variety of options and betting preferences. And there is safety in A rated sportsbook numbers for the players.

Good point, it could be true

But the other books are not flourishing like they should because of inability to move money from book to book with ease or for that matter getting money to a book.

yeah, i always though pinnacle as the walmart of internet sportsbook. now the mom and pop shops (more like tony and bruno shops) are taking up us customers.

Neteller leaving the US market was three times the blow Pinnacle leaving was. I loved Pinnacle, but their departure led to enormous growth at Matchbook which actually provides an even cheaper juice structure than Pinnacle did.

That is fair. Pinnacle did offer unlimited options with high limits. I only play the major American sports so I guess my comment was a bit short sighted.

Impossible to get money down early at matchbook when your certain the line will move. No halftimes, parlays, team totals and other good stuff.

Yeah I agree... Matchbook is good but NOT THAT GOOD! I like 1st and 2nd halfs... I like IF bets on occasion and I like opening lines without a $1 for a limit but Matchbbok is ok no doubt..

I totally agree and I have been saying this from the start.. Pinny. leaving the US market because of pressure is total garbage if for no other reason ...the fact of how other books reacted such as Cris creating Bookmaker.. I mean come on what difference did that make and why didn't Pinny. do it.? The top books all take care of each other...

matchbook is good only if you know what you like and how much you want to bet (for straight wagers that is). otherwise, it is useless.
