Default OT - eBay scam..

.

Approx. 3 weeks ago I purchased a Motherboard, CPU and several other PC parts on eBay for my son to practice building a PC. After 3 weeks of waiting and no response from the seller, I decided to file a claim with PayPal. 3 days after I filed the claim with PayPal, I receive a registered empty package. The a$$hole provided PayPal with the registered signed receipt and I lost the claim.

What a scumbag. What was his feedback score prior to your purchase?

Sounds like a case on Jude Judy where a HOT mother/daughter team bought cell phones off EBAY. The seller sent them photos of the cell phones and said that is what the posting advertised. Judge Judy flipped out and awarded the mother/daughter some cash.

Small claims court sir?

If you are still able to work on the dispute could you submit the postage to show what the weight was?

You are full of it!!!!

A claim takes MORE than a month to investigate and have a decision made by Paypal. Plus, you would dispute using the "item not as described" option, not "item not received" option, tsk tsk, trying to pull a fast one on the SBR crew.

After 3 weeks of waiting, the seller sends you an empty package?
You file the claim with paypal and they make an immediate decision in favour of the so called scammer?

Try to be a little more original if you're going to post such nonsense.

How do I know this? I have recently gone through the dispute process at Paypal personally.

I am curently in a dispute with PayPal for the same thing. I paid through PayPal using my credit card, so I am planning on just doing a charge back if I dont get my money refunded.

Are you okay?

Why would I file a claim "item not as described" prior to me receiving the empty package. If I didn't receive the package, the only choice I had was "item not received".

If you read my post correctly, I filed the claim prior to receiving the empty package.

Why would you say that I'm trying to pull a fast one on the SBR crew? Am I asking SBR to refund me the money?

If I can remember correctly. It was 94%. I thought 94% was pretty good, but I guess not.

I'm fine, your story is full of holes. First off, if you filed under item not received, the seller has a week to respond to the claim and has options to settle or escalate so that paypal can make a decision, the decision would not be made until they complete an investigation, paypal is many things but they are not fast, a decision takes more than a month.

After you received the empty package you could communicate with paypal and provide the new information for review, this adds more time to the process. I know you aren't asking SBR to do anything here for you, my comment was directed at the fact you are selling the story to the forum readers, some already believe it. As it stands your story in not credible.

Contact paypal directly via telephone and give them the new information. They actually want to protect both sellers and buyers from unscrupulous ebayers.

i haven't bought much off e-bay, but all my experiences have been great, i once bought an old colecovision video games system and the person sent me a extra one, it didn't work ,but they said i could use it as parts if the other one broke down, and they gave me 4 joysticks, and a adapter for playing atrai 2600 video games on the system. that person was cool. i also bought these plastic nude golf tees and profanity tees from some novelty shop and he sent me double my order because he said it took him too long to mail them to me, it only took like 2 weeks and i hadn't even complained, but i thanked him anyway.

It's funny that you mentioned if the item are still For Sale because I've been keeping an eye out for it. To answer your question, no the item are not For Sale and he's still registered.

go under advanced search, then do completed items by his seller ID. look at past auctions to see if he sold something similar and then contact the other buyer and see if he got buried too

94% is a horrendous feedback rating.

I personally would not buy anything on ebay from a seller with less than 99%. If he or she has over 3000 fbs, maybe I'd go down to 98.3 %.

I'd also check their recent feedback. A lot of sellers get bad feedback when they're first starting out, because they make mistakes. Then they learn.

If a seller's bad fb is way back when they began, give the seller the benefit of the doubt. If most of it in the last six months, and esp in the last few months, run for the hills.

Also, all new buyers on ebay should go to Ebay's COMMUNITY page, then Discussion Boards, and then click on the Buyer board. A "sticky" at the top of that board, put together by an experienced seller, is worth the few miniutes it takes to read. Pure gold, on how to buy without probs on ebay.

The Seller Central board is also great if you are thinking of selling on "the Bay."

If you want to be sure you won't get screwed by a seller, first check for high feedback, and read some of the comments left by buyers. And second, as someone else suggested, pay via PayPal, by means of a credit card. If you did not get what you paid for, you can cancel the transaction.

I will say that the "empty box" complaint is well-known to ebay sellers as a favorite gambit of cheating buyers (Yes, Virginia, there are a lot of cheating buyers). I don't doubt your story, but that is simply how it is. But if your seller has such a crappy fb rating, like 94%, he may have done just that.

Dhue (Bro). If I was you, I would stick with the handicapping and leave the ebay or personal issues outside of a public forum. Many don't understand life and if they do, they will always try to swing the story to there benefit. Only too try to feel above the others (posters).

Stay cool Bro.

Be careful -- doing a chargeback after using PayPal can get your PayPal account locked. At least, that has historically been true; I don't know whether it still is.

It also can get the seller's account locked, regardless whether your claim is meritorious and with essentially no right to appeal. PayPal is notorious for such actions.

Please post the auction link. Thanks.

I've had to go through the PayPal dance with one particular seller. I emailed him/her several times, never getting a response nor the item for which I paid immediately. After about 3 weeks of that, I file a claim through PayPal, then get my item 3 days later. I give the guy a neutral feedback, stating that he didn't communicate until I filed a PayPal claim. He gave me a negative feedback as retaliation. Amazing how some people operate. My seller had a 100% feedback when I bought the item, but was down to maybe 90% by the time I got my item. I'm kinda suprised I got my item at all, I was prepared to go through the whole chargeback process which was agonizing and a strain on my time & effort. My experience has taught me, though, that you are really at the mercy of the seller in those situations. Ebay & PayPal really don't have a strong system of checks & balances. It's all really about the feedback rating. Beware anyone under 100% and less than 100 transactions. Unfortuantely, I'm down to around 98% or 99% thanks to a couple choice jerkoffs that simply want to treat people like shit for no apparent reason.

gotta appreciate that scam
You got wrecked
It aint right but how he got u to sign that is classic

I have a 97.5 rating cuz people dont understand paypal within 48 hours. If its 49 hours u get a neg rating and in turn so do I. I shouldnt do that so quick but I like to get paid quick and ship.

.

Thank you all for the advice, some good, some bad and let's also include an insult from a poster. I guess, that's part of an open forum.

In addition to the above, the reply that really caught my eyes and gave me a heads-up was the below post from Bill.

In conclusion to this thread, I scanned the front and back of the package with the postage and send it to PayPal. Glad to say, I received the refund and my understanding is that the sellers account will be deducted the amount.

Thanks Bill and others.

Paypal doesn't protect sellers at all if a credit card payment is involved. All it takes is 1 called by the buyer to their credit card company for a chargeback, and bam they win. Paypal does not fight with creditcard companies and the only way to actully do somthing about it is to take paypal to court and hope they dont show up.
