Default What NFL Player Position Has the Most Whites?

Other than QB of course.

Doubt there are any stats on that topic - VPI (very politically incorrect). But race is always a hot, if subterranean, topic.

In fact, I bring it up because I heard a mixed group (male andd female, not black & white) discussing it at a sports bar over the weekend. A very brief discusssion, one of the ladies got pissed and walked off for a while.

My guess would be, outside of qb, the offensive line in general. It sure wouldn't be the D-line, nor RB, or Defensive Backfield. Maybe linebacker but probably not. But I don't know what may be the mental and physical skills of O Line would draw more paleskins. (Tho the guy from the Ravens, Afr-Amer, is probably the best in the NFL)

If anyone has the email addy of Nick the Greeek or Al Campanis I'll ask them about it.

Yeah, kickers and punters. Very few AA guys in those positions, wonder why?

And long snappers, that's one I didn't consider. Like the legmen a very specialized position, not really a "full time" player.

Not likely, but there are a few good fullbacks. Tho I can't think of any offhand. The guy who used to be (is he still?) the FB for Tampa.

I have no stats, But you rarely see a black center. I will say that there are more white centers than Starting QB's in the league

Peace,

Definitely kickers and punter... Do you see any black kickers or punters?

Maybe not currently, but there have been a few black punnters. Again, I can't recall specifically ( they ain't in the Hall of Fame) but I think Miami had a black punter for a few years.

Receivers would be a tough go for a causasian. Lack of speed. Tho again there are exceptions. About 15 or more years ago didn't New England have a super fast white WR?

And Dallas today, isn't one of their WRs of the caucasian persuasion? The real fast one?

Two black QBs in the Mon Nite game.

The kid from Wash looks better than Donovan

There are no white Cornerbacks in the NFL currently (I think the guy from the Giants who was married to a celeb is retired) but there are a few good safeties.

And speaking of Washinton I think the last white RB in the NFL of any note or worth was Riggins.

Definitely kickers & punters top the list. Reggie Roby was probably the black Miami punter if anyone was trying to think of it.

QB used to be predominately white, but now maybe 1/3 of the QBs are black.

Defense definitely is predominately black, with the trend for speed at every position on defense.

OL is probably the best place for slow white guys. C is the best yet, being the "QB" of the OL, less need for speed as the outside OL positions.

Still a few TEs & FBs that are white. Alstott was a RB for most of his career. Probably the last great white RB. Otherwise Riggins was the last great white RB. I doubt we'll see another one during my lifetime.

Lastly, a few white WRs seem to pop up here and there. Welker is a nice WR for NE, inked to a nice contract this offseason. I also like Indy's Anthony Gonzalez, who looks to have fair skin. I think he's got a little black in him, but he's at least 7/8 white, IMO. But both of these guys are #3 WRs. I doubt I'll see a #1 or #2 white WR in my lifetime, at least on a quality team without injuries putting him higher on the depth chart.

Yes, long snapper is the last bastion for the white guy. No self respecting "brother" wants this job. lmao

You won't see a white #1 or two receivier?

Curtis is on tv right now? Stokley is a two? Furrey led the league in catches last year? They are out of the league but Chrebet and McCaffrey were 1000 yard big time guys. Jeff Szjmarja would be a top 20 receiver in the league if he wants to. Matt Jones is a number one although the Jags have really shitty receivers?

Black Qb's are actually trending downwards, used to be like 8 starters and now there are 4.

Punter has the highest percentage, offensive line has the most players

Slacker and RM make solid contributions to the topic.

It is kind of intersting, in that none of the gutless wonders on ESPN or sports talk radio will ever discuss it. It can, tho, be discusssed rationallay, without "hate" or name-calling. There are clear diffenrnces, and so what?

There was a white WR, I think for the Pats, some years ago who was a speed demon. Forget his name, tho his first name may have been Don.

Oh yeah, just remembered! Don Beebe.

Inability to recruit defensive speed has been the downfall of Notre Dame. Weis can't find enough superiour AAs on the defensive side who can get by the rigorous academic standards.

Fisher DeBerry was eased out at Air Force for suggesing that his team was hurt by not having black speedsters, esp at RB. AFA another tough academic school, (tho they stuck it to TCU the other day). Ditto Stanford, good luck Harbaugh. Tho they do recruit good AA offensive players, just like ND.

I personally feel that the colleges making big bucks from football and basketball should spend some money to put in vocational training classes for those players with athletic skills (who bring big money to the university) whether black or white or brown, who will go to their graves without ever being able to do a problem in Euclid. Too much hypocrisy.

Beebe played for Buffalo.

The most recent example of a white man freakishly good at a shocking position would probably have to be Jason Sehorn as a pro bowl corner.

Hey Drunkin' did you ever get all of your bones from SBoo? Interesting signature.LOL..

Kickers and Punters of course.. There is not even a close third.. Slacker is correct it was Reggie Roby and he played quite a while with them.... There was one other black punter and I believe he played for the Giants not too long ago actually... Those are the only two black punters I recall who have punted in the NFL... As far as kickers I can only think of 1 and he was (I believe) a foriegn national... Donald Iguabuekae'... I want to say there was one other who played briefly recently but I don't recall for sure...

Come to think of it I have NEVER seen a black long snapper nor have I ever had one snap for me when I played OR coached... I used to have 2 or 3 long snappers too...

Rodney Williams was the guy, got his autograph at Redskin training camp 7 years ago. Brian Monroe punted at the U, and for the Chargers in preseason, cut though.

Well that is great news Drunkin'... I am glad to hear it!!!

I wouldn't say you were wrong.. You knew yoiu were getting paid but it's the "dear in the headlights" reaction... When you think there is a slight chance something bad will happen it works on your nerves...

Anyway glad to hear and if I do go back into coaching I think I am going to try a bigger challenge... Teaching a girl how to kick FG's... Maybe a black one..

BTW thanks for the props anyway...

Yeah, long snappers, a white monopoly.

Outrageous. Has to be institutional racism, reserving that one position for whites only.

I just emailed the Reverend Al Sharpton about this situation. I'm sure he'll take appropriate action to correct it.

HA!!... That was a good come back!

Al's cool.. I like Al but he does pound the racism issue to hard.. I would vote him in as president although I think he is not as constructive for blacks as he could be.. IMO I think the opposite is ture.. Blacks should not be labeled for doing something good (the first black coach/player or whatever else) BUT I also don't think blacks should be labled for doing something bad either (a black man was involved or is the prime suspect)... In both cases it should be a man not a black man... You can't have the good labels and toss out the bad ones... The world doesn't work that way...
