Default SBR Bill Dozer reports on the SunsetSports situation

12.21.2005 (03:52 PM CST)
SBR Bill Dozer reports: Sun sets on SunsetSports(SBR rating D+), Sports-Gambling to take over accounts. Sports-Gambling(SBR rating D+) management tells SBR that players will be able to access their accounts early next week. It is unknown at this time if this will be treated as a bailout situation where players will have to fulfill wagering requirements before being able to request a withdrawal. Sunset clients report their accounts were locked for weeks before the site came off-line.

Well, do we believe SBR or do we believe AK?

It doesn't help matters that you've just admitted on another thread that you'd shill for any D+ book you've got funds in.

You're the shit on the shoe of the offshore industry, AK.

I have noticed that Bill (contrary to what I thought) isn't always unbiased when he posts.

Bill is probably the best and I respect him a lot, but I don't like his way of making a "sensational" story out of nothing.

Steelin,

Sunset was rated D+. SBR does recommend players stay with books rated B+ or higher.

Sports-Gambling has assured me that your funds will be in your account at the start of next week. You will be required to fax or email a photo ID to activate your account. If we receive further details it will be posted. I hope to find out today if there will be a wager-through requirement.

Slash,
These reports are always very sensitive. Normally when a company fails, players suffer. It's not often that a better situation arises after a month of no-pays. I do think it is important to get players' attention when it's not at the expense of others. This book was all over the forums when their bonus offers were emailed out and lots of players asked for reasons to avoid Sunset. I would disagree that this is "nothing".

I do appreciate the feedback, especially from a veteran like yourself. I understand it's not what you normally see on SBR.

How does Sports-Gambling happen to know the customer balances of this Sunset operation anyway?

Bill,

I was not referring to this post with my comment. I am referring to another front page news story where I happen to know the player in question, and you are reporting things that the player didn't tell you, even though you are referring to his case with your story. I don't like the book in question, but still - when making such reports, things should not be exaggerated to make the book look worse than it is.

That's just my opinion...

Well, by all means start a new thread. There is no reason to speak in code where I can't reply in an unrelated topic.

With respect to your friend who was willing to share, the report is based solely on facts and basic math. Information was given from both parties and nothing was assumed or "exaggerated".

Well, I received help from Bill before yo get my money back from sportsbookusa. From my experience, he didnt exaggerate anything. I am standing by him. My friend Sam is having $6996 in his Sunset acct now. It makes him very worried when the situation is getting worse, no pay - website showing "offline for maintenance" - page not available. Bill, pls keep us updated as when we can access the acct and how we can withdraw. Thanks.

Default Caveat Emptor

FYI...I have just got off a lengthy chat with SunsetSports' Customer Service Department (LiveHelp) and in my personal circumstance...the money I had in both my accounts - no longer exists.

Those of you that are lucky enough to get your money credited back - you'll have to 'agree' to a 6x rollover and say that you will continue to do business with them.

In my humble opinion SunsetSports (dba The Continental Gaming Group, dba Sunset Wager) new is exactly the same entity - only now with a different NETeller Merchant Account Number. I personally intend to notify The Internet Fraud Complaint Center (IFCC) (http://www.ifccfbi.gov/) and would respectfully suggest that members of SBR give SunsetSports an extremely wide berth as they strive for respectability behind the lure of new Merchant statuses with reputable organizations such as NETeller, with whom they already have an account. MasterCard and VISA Merchant accounts I’m sure will follow.

I respectfully submit to SBR that you consider downgrading SunsetSports to “F”.

I appreciate your post very much. But are you keeping some critical info under your hat or do you just have a strong gut feel going on this?

Certainly John, it would be my pleasure. I would say that I am not keeping mum (quiet) about anything critical, it is just that I have had experience in the past of other unrelated businesses that seek to setup strategic alliances – say for example with self-regulatory organizations (i.e. Better Business Bureau, Institute of Directors, etc.), trade and industry organizations (like this very worthy forum) or financial institutions (such as NETeller, MasterCard, VISA, etc.), so that they may use these said strategic alliances, like a VISA logo plonked ‘here’ or a SBR A+ rosette (whether truly earned or not) surreptitiously placed ‘there’ (irrespective of medium – direct mail, fax, URL) to fool the public into a similarly perceived insight of stability and strength.

SunsetSports’ old Web site displays this in classic style! We’ve got logos galore emblazoned from a whole host of reputable financial luminaries (amongst them VISA, MasterCard, NETeller, Person to Person, Bank Wire, Moneybookers, Electronic Check). This is the kind of third party association I refer to; tactical, deliberate – effective. Before I forget...the DNS stuff (http://www.dnsstuff.com/) on SunsetSports old and SunsetSports anew kind of tells the tale too. Respectfully I won’t spell it out; suffice to say I wish that I could get away from my obligations by simply saying “No, yesterday that was the old me...today you’re dealing with the new me!”; because that is solely what SunsetSports have done – despite their claims.

Ha! Ha!! "Thanks" for that natrass! Guilty, I do enjoy reading Dickens - you got me!

Cutting through my own rather verbose attempt at political correctness then, let’s stop 'beating around the bush' and call SunsetSports for what they actually are...they’re a SCAM.

They certainly are not, nor never have been “licensed by the federal government” and unless Costa Rica’s gaming laws permit money laundering, deception and theft, then they probably do not comply with Costa Rican gaming laws either. SunsetSports are exactly the same company as before but now they have the additional assets of fools like me who trusted them to do our bidding.

Respectfully then and as I said before, learn from my misfortune and keep a very, VERY wide berth of this scam Sportsbook. If at all possible SBR, please downgrade SunsetSports to “F”.

I thank you.

Thanks for that pags11, I’m sorry too because all my prior dealings with SunsetSports (speaking with Joe Duran and by email with Sophie Lewis) had been handled in a truly professional and efficient manner. It’s a shame then when people get greedy and then decide to concoct a lame-a** story like being taken over by a fictitious company – not even Google’s 4.28 billion web pages (as of February, 2004...so it’s probably nearer 6 billion now) can find any record of.

For the record, I have been given four different company names as the new owner of ‘SCAMset Sports’, so maybe the next time they decide to create a story in order to steal from people who had previously been ‘more than happy’ (don’t tell George Carlin I wrote this ) with their service, the company execs should sit down first and dot their I's.

Btw "Thank you" SBR for the downgrade to "F".

12.25.2005 (10:35 PM CST)
SBR Bill Dozer reports: SunsetSports(SBR rating F) players left with more questions. Last week SBR confirmed with Sports-Gambling(SBR rating D+) management that the book, which is part of SBGglobal Group, would be taking over all Sunset player accounts at the start of this week. SBR has since spoken with SBGglobal’s General Manager who said the deal is not finalized and all accounts may not be migrated to Sports-Gambling. SunsetSports.com is now back online, claiming they are under a new company under different ownership. Sunset, which redirects to SunsetWager.com, tells SBR that customer accounts were divided according to "player packages" and some accounts will be moved to Sports-gambling. Sunset is telling account holders they must roll-over their balances 6 times before they can have access to their funds. Players are rightfully concerned that Sunset’s latest promises will not be fulfilled. It is more probable that this wagering requirement is the latest stall tactic for unmovable accounts than it is that a new owner chose to take over a no-pay sportsbook, service its frustrated bettors, and build the tainted brand.

yeah Dan...a six time rollover is BS...they are just hoping players will lose their balances before they meet the rollover requirements...

you: hello, Rick, any update on the sunset issue? I had acct there.
Rick: They're still updating the accounts from sunset, we hope that by tomorrow afternoon all of the accounts should be updated....
you: Good. Then I'll come back later. By the way, I heard there will be a rollover requirement to cash out any money. Is that true?
Rick: Nothing has been confirmed yet, but as soon as the accounts are updated then you'll know exactly what's going to be the restrictions for payouts, as of now we don't have any information yet, sorry.
you: OK, bye.
