Default no booze served for the MNF game between the jets/pats

how else are these fans suppose to watch this game anyways. yet another clunker for ABC this year.

    December 20, 2005, 4:50 PM EST

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- Alcohol won't be sold during Monday night's game between the Jets and Patriots at the Meadowlands in an attempt to quell rowdy fan behavior.

The ban comes after nine fans were arrested during the Jets-Saints game Nov. 27. One man was charged with stabbing two fans in a restroom, and a state trooper broke his leg while trying to eject a fan who reportedly threw a beer bottle.

Jets spokesman Ron Colangelo said Tuesday the ban was put in place to protect fans. The Jets and New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority made the joint decision.

"It's for precautionary reasons, to provide for the safety and comfort of our fans," Colangelo said.

Colangelo said alcohol will be available at the Jets' season finale Jan. 1 against Buffalo, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. EDT.

Earlier this year, NJSEA president George Zoffinger pledged to deal with the problem of drunk fans.

I can see cutting sales off at the half, but the entire game.

idiocy...sounds like the bowling lanes will be full in jersey on monday night. I love how the authorities say it is for "the safety and comfort of the fans." What if they are most safe and comfortable while they are drinking? What if a couple more people are stabbed in restrooms even with no alcohol being served? Do you think they will ban breathing?

I hear what you're saying, but NOTHING (not cold even beers and a warm sofa) beats the atmosphere of a live game.

if you've seen one atmosphere, you've seen them all.

    just kidding...

i used to love going to the games when i was in The Swamp as a student at UF cheering for Spurrier's Gators. have to admit that spoiled it for me whenever i go to any other games anywhere else, especially NFL contests.

oh man, all those florida coeds...
