Default What Do You Like About SBR?

I know there was a thread a few weeks ago where people were allowed to critique SBR; I gave a lot of negative feedback but wanted to share some positive feedback as well...

    1) Board is very user friendly and the layout is easy on the eyes and easy to follow.
    2) Solid mod team that does their best to keep topics focused on sports and sports wagering.
    3) Board is lively and each forum gets love.
    4) Very fair management team that does it's best to help players and keep players at SBR. BTP contest is top notch!
    5) Very few people are banned and that helps the overall diversity of the board.
    6) Lots of solid posters here (JJGOLD).
    7) Front page is solid and the lines are great.

1.) The mods are great, the way they handle the forum is awesome. You would think with having a relatively open doors policy and not being ban happy that this would attract tons of punks. It actually has the reverse effect. I think the thrill for trouble makers is acting up and being banned for their actions. Here most everyone is tolerated and I think the range of discussions are great.

2.) The activity is awesome, threads rarely sit on the first page for long unless they're really popular discussions that a lot of posters find important.

3.) The ability to share gambling related information, pass along tidbits and experiences with different books is obviously great, I am having a lot of fun loitering in the NFL section.

And the list goes on and on, but those three things are paramount for me.

You rarely here a mod warning posters and making threats like mods from other sites, the mods here are pretty low key and not ego guys.

    1. BigBoyDan is one mean SOB.

    2. Ganch uses words that he's the only one that knows what it means. He makes up words but it's the " The King has no clothes" thing that he has working for him.

    3. Taco always has something new and creative to say.

    4. Mudcat shares valuable gaming information on a daily basis.

    5. We're lucky to have pros such as dodif posting his plays and sharing his wealth of knowledge.

    6. 99% of the posters believe that JJGold is a losing gambler.

    7. There's never been a time where money has influenced a rating here as SBR.

I think at other sites mods ruin the forum because they are fukkin assholes, rx has a bunch of scumbags as does EOG

Bottom line: free speech. I've been on all kinds of boards where posters are muzzled to the 9th degree. SBR allows & encourages open criticism of anything & everything, including SBR itself. This is what impresses the the most, it's a sign of high integrity which is what SBR is all about. IMO, the high integrity draws the high calibre posters that populate the site.

here is my list of reasons (top 10)

    1) ganchrow hg and his picks
    2) batesmanpatrick's hot girls pics
    3) bbd is a great mod
    4) jj and his crazy stories and wacked out betting strategies
    5) sbrlines...i use it all the time
    6) in game rally thread.
    7) fair (well, 90% fair) rating of online sportsbooks...this is how i found this site
    8) no one flame other, or at least it is moved to the private area pretty quick
    9) people actually post useful (about 20% of the post at least) stuff that help me to make more money...can't say that about other forums
    10) ganchrow's little software programs

    About SBR: everything.

About this forum: Free speech as mentioned above. The majority of the posters here is so much better than at the RX EOG and other kiddo forums. No contests sponsored by shit books like BetUS or SBG. John or Bill don´t act like they are something better. There is prolly more, but iam too tired right now.

now thats funny! cause when i read his math posts, my brain starts to hurt.

    5. We're lucky to have pros such as dodif posting his plays and sharing his wealth of knowledge.
    ouch, the backhanded sarcastic compliment.

i just wish i would have found this place sooner, i like it here, everyone seems cool and has a good sense of humor.

I found SBR because I was ripped off by a sportsbook.
I appreciated all the staff tried to do for me than the Forum started and I feel I've made friends here.
I love the insights into games. With the info here Iv'e made some money.
I don't post anywhere else. I have a life and other things that take up alot of my spare time. I am far from a shut-in computer geek. I also only post during football season, but that said I consider alot of the staff here ,mods, and many of the posters here friends . I'd love to buy you all a round on the house!! Keep up the good work boy's!

I like SBR because it represents an unbiased outlet to get disputes resolved with arrogant sportsbooks. I also find their rating system very useful, and they get it right almost always. And when they're wrong (i.e. Cascade) they own up to it. SBR is top shelf IMO.

Let's have an SBR bash in Vegas.

SBRJohn, I'm sure you can get Coach to come.
Just pay his airfare, hotel room and a couple of nights in the VIP room at "Spearmint Rhino" and the "Crazy Horse Too"

    Here is my SBR story.

It was a cold, dreary day on 2-4-07 and I sat by my lonesome self surfing the boring web. I was dreaming of a place, a place in cyberspace that I could call my home. Oh how far off that place seemed. So there I sat, surfing the boring web and wishing upon a star. I remember the moment like it was yesterday. I had been knowing about SBR Odds so I went there to check a line movement on the Chicago Bulls. I must have blacked out for a moment, but when I came to I was at SBR forum! I had no idea how I had navigated here but I was so excited and I felt love for the first time in my life. It was an instant gratification as I moved my mouse while quivering up to the register button. I cried when I accepted the agreement. Its been history ever since and I've never looked back, not once!

    Yes the feedback is great.

Its a lot of fun too. People laughed at us for doing a free lines service when others charge $400 a month. DonBest even allowed us to advertise on their site for a short time.

Whats makes SBR special to me is the amount of passion put into every project. If its a contest, it needs to be the best. If its a line service it needs to be excellent. And if its a forum, make it fun.

I agree imgv, it seems like everyone that comes here is cool. I like coming here because people are pretty smart and the moderators are very nice people, I think the site has been really honest on ratings also, I think they work their tails off to make sure it is right. The contests are awsome, I think it is a fun site and these guys are trying to fight against what the USA is doing also which I for sure agree with them on.

I agree with you SBR John and I certainly thank you and all moderators for just making it a very good site, plus on top of that this is not an expensive site either.... its free!

Personally, it's just the fact that you know SBR is in your corner, like some Badass you can call on when the going looks tough. Honestly, 3 years ago when I started looking into SBR, and the fact that they would help out with diusputes (For Free), my first thought was: "Yeah, Ok...What's the catch?" They've helped me out Big Time, allowing me to get funds that otherwise I might never have seen. Getting $$$ that you felt were lost forever.....I think I can safely say I like that about SBR.
