    Default Question about bookies\cashing out

First time using a bookie really... normally just do it online but figured I'd give it a shot this way in lieu of the problems online gambling is having. Anyhow, I'm up 470 right now, and the guy who knows the bookie and I had decided that 500 was my "cash out and pay up number" Basicly, after Monday Night Football, if I am up or down 500 dollars, then a payment is made accordingly. I asked the bookie if he could change that to a lower number, and he said he preferred keep it the way it is... and that he didn't see much of a difference.

He also said he doesn't want to be paying people out weekly or anything like that, so he tries to keep the number at 500 min.

Now, I am up 470...and I could surely use that cash for this upcoming week...so now I am forced into making a play tonight just to try to cash out? Isn't this just a way of bookie's getting people to throw around all sorts of action in hopes they finally lose?

I havent lost a single bet in the NFL yet, and I'm thinking he may think I'm trying to hit and run him... do you think maybe that's the case? Would asking him for the cashout of $470 and he keeps $30 for the inconvenience be a logical thing to ask?

I just don't want him to think I'm the type person who needs the money right away, because in most cases I'm not..but some of the time...I would rather pocket some of that cash and start up fresh on Sunday. What ya guys think

Just curious what types of experiences you guys have had with a local book. I'm also a bit concerned because yesterday I placed a bet for a friend on the Giants and got +6 then when I called to place a bet for myself on Dallas it was -7. I'm hopeful this guy isn't shady, obviously he can adjust his lines..but it was a few hours later and it had moved a full point?

Once a paypoint is established that number is usually set in stone. He may increase/decrease your limits and or paypoint at a later date, but since it sounds like you are a new client I highly doubt he will cut you a break this time around.

If you don't like tonights card, do not force a bet. Just let it roll until you find a game you like. I have known alot of people get into trouble forcing/chasing.

Your local probably got hit hard with Dallas and wanted even action, thus the line movement. This is quite normal especially with locals.

Yeah, I likely won't ask him to pay me out until it's up to $500... I just don't see how these local books think they can compete with the online books. I told him I'm an online player just trying out the book thing..and considering I put about $700 in action on Sundays NFL games alone, I figure he wants to keep me as a client. Course, I'm sure plenty of other people put down that much on a single game I dunno.

I just don't really understand why local books aren't trying to make it as convenient as the online books do. One free pay out a month, and then they cost $50 a month, I would be more than willing to do that with him.

I am thinking he may have gotten hit pretty hard in general because lots of faves covered yesterday and the public loves a fave.

A local book moving a line a point is nothing new. Sunday night games and Monday night games get a lot of action and that is common.

If you set up an agreement for $500 then stand by it. If I was a book I would think someting is up by you wanting to cash out with 2 games to go. A few years ago I moved to a different state and my book and I had the same agreement on $500 because one or the other would wire money to settle up. Heck 1st week I was down $430 so I only bet $50 on the Monday night game to keep from paying that week. Use it to your advantage. If you need the money that bad you should not have been betting.
