Getting fined or jailed for not buying health insurance unconstitutional!
I can't believe there isn't more of an uproar over this.Judge Andrew Napolitano who you see and hear all the time ''my hero who should run for president''was livid about this.He said it was totally unconstitutional.Hard to believe his sister is Janet, the head homeland security fascist who he's not on speaking terms with.
There has to be alot of people here who would be directly affected by this with hidden income or exposed assets where Obama will place liens on your property, confiscate profit windfalls and fine or jail you if you don't buy socialist health insurance.
I'm certain it will affect gambling in that before any large sums of money is paid out in winnings to you, they will run you through a computer check to see if you are being fined for not having health insurance and confiscate your winnings. The Minnesota lottery does a variety of stuff like this already where I know someone who won 10k and they took it all away from him.

While I'm guessing that you're just being a troll on the subject... I'll still comment on the above. Anyone who isn't reporting income or hiding assets of whatever is stealing. I don't just mean from the government, but from me and everyone else in the country.
It's like... you're out to dinner with 10 friends. Everyone is going to pay a portion of the bill based on how much money they have. Add up the total funds everyone has and then divide by the funds each has to get his/her percent to pay. Hopefully that's clear. If you fudge your number and say you have less than you do.. yes, you pay less, but that means everyone else has to pay more.

I say good. The loser owed money. I'm glad he was caught.

We're required in MA to have health insurance or we get penalized when doing our state tax.

States have put into law mandatory auto liability insurance for years. One would think if NOT having insurance is ok, those laws would've been struck down by now.

Really? Are there stats and evidence of this? Are you really saying that if I didn't have insurance, that bitch wouldn't have run the red light three weeks ago and caused the accident I was in?

This is totally different and you know it Willie...
They don't force you to buy car insurance. What they do is prohibit you from driving without insurance. You are perfectly free to avoid the premiums by avoiding driving. Also there is a reason for linking insurance -- keeping in mind that it is liability insurance that we are talking about here -- to driving in this way, and it does not apply to the case of health insurance.
Requiring liability insurance is the only way to prevent massive, widespread injustice: people being hurt or maimed by automobiles without being compensated for it.
I am really anxious to know just how much the government is going to subsidize those that cannot afford to purchase health insurance. The US is in debt like it's never been before. The only ones who are going to benefit from this bill are Doctors, Hospitals, Pharmaceutical companies, and the biggest winner, the insurance companies. All of them will be laughing all the way to the bank at our expense. Nothing in this health care bill does anything about the over-charging of patients by doctors and hospitals, drug companies, and nothing about getting insurance companies to dramatically lower their monthly premiums.

Cougar, c'mon man, if I knew it, then why would I say what I did?
So they make it where you are perfectly free to not have health insurance if you are not earning a taxable income in the US. No different than your example of how w're all "free" to avoid auto insurance. Could be argued that the head of a household, the real bread winner, is putting his fellow citizens at risk of having to pay for his family's well-being if he was to get sick and die or be unable to work.

They are hiring thousands of IRS agents to enforce this.
Look for the IRS agents to show up at your door, and in their best German accent, ask for your (insurance) papers.
Very scary.

I'm pretty sure when Washington and Jefferson drafted the constitution there were no health insurance companies. A doctor was someone who knew how to use a saw to cut limps and anesthesia was given by a bottle of whiskey.

At financial risk, yes, but not at a physical risk. There's an ethical difference in my opinion.

You guys will soon be doing it like here in Holland: Everybody has health insurance, it pays everything, BTW...and everyone pays taxes, I was in the 54% bracket when I left.
Deal with it.

They will do the same as the whites that are in trailer parks who don't have $.50 to their name. Or the same as a homosexual bumming head to stay in someones crib from month to month.
