Offshore is probably the better way to go just for the lower vig factors, and bonuses being offered.

Default Vegas,baby,vegas!!!!!

If you would ask me that question prior to my 3wks summer vacation on jul31st i would have said offshores by a country mile, especially those in the U.K.
I was under the delusion that because of their long history with legalize gambling that the sharp, suave, savvy, fearless, cool as cucumber British bookmaker unlike those little sh*t head in Vegas where definitely the place to go and bet with.Low and behold oddly enough it was on a British website called punters-paradise where that delusion was dispelled by more than a few of the members. It was through them that i found SBR and my life hasn't been the same since!!
In Vegas anything under 5k at a small to medium book for the NFL,OR 10K(NFL) at any of the big ones will be taken without batting a eye lash. Not because there any better than the Euros but they are force to go as high because of the competition on the Strip.
The fact that you can leave with your money after a win or lost, prevent them from screwing you by stopping you FROM BETTING once your on a losing streak by shutting you down your account.
Nor can't they invent a line for you only! just because you are winning neither.Having said that from what i have learn from the guys on SBR since i joined in early august, you can create for yourself a VIRTUAL MINI- Las Vegas strip on line though with this line-up:

*Pinnacles
*WSEX
*MATCHBOOK
*Canbet
*bookmaker/Betcris/ DSI
*tradesports
-----------------------------
------------------------------
NOT ON MY LIST BUT every body else love them:
BET JAMAICA,
THE GREEK
I don't know why but my instinct tells me not to bet there???

Okay, I can actually give you first hand experience. I have been betting BIG in las vegas for years now. I'm not talking about a thousand here and a thousand there. I'm talking 10s of thousands at once. I'm not here to brag because I have lost lots of money. Just giving you the facts. I don't agree with that post about flying into vegas. Vegas is the BEST place to go. Number 1, they do not track you in vegas assuming you place your bets at the right sportsbook. You go to the smaller places privately owned like venetian and they limit your bet. It's annoying. If you go to the right place they dont even bat an eye if you lay down 4400. You could do it 3x a day at the same casino and they won't say sh1t to you.

Second, you stay under the limit of 10k. Thats not your wager. Its the combined wager + winnings. Make sure its under the 10k limit. Example: YOU place a bet @ -110 and so the most you want to lay down at any one sb is 4400. This way if you win you get back less than 10K. If you have more money you want to lay down you bring a friend and have them place it for you or you go to another sb and lay it down. The places to go are the following:

Mirage SB
Gold Coast SB
Palms SB
Wynn SB

There are others of course. I love the Palms. You can find a diamond in the ruff on the lines there. They seem to be clueless sometimes and you can take advantage of them.

Another reason why Vegas is the best place is because after you win, you have everything at your disposal. Strip clubs, night clubs, alcohol, bitches, etc. It's FVCKIN HEAVEN. Get yourself a table at a club with bottle service. Do a couple lines while you are at it. J/K!

If you think the IRS can't track you when you bet offshore you are crazy. Everything is done thru the bank and if they want to I'm sure they can get access and figure it out.

Anyways, like anything in life the key is to diversify. I would have some money in some offshore, a local bookie and vegas for the big games. Shop around like you would do purchasing anything else and don't put all your eggs in one basket. Come up with a system you feel comfortable with. Start small and as you feel more secure raise it. I use all three and it works for me. Find yourself a reputable bookie and build trust and things will be fine. Just don't turn into a degenerate and lose your kids college money.

good luck im out,
mp

If Vegas could, they would be online in a heartbeat.....

There really isn't much debate about what the answer to this question is...

Moneyplays, I went to Vegas every football season for 15 weeks for the better part of a decade -- I know the Vegas sportsbook scene very well. To fly in and have to cab it to smaller books off the strip is time consuming and very expensive. Cuts into the bottom-line too much.

In 2005, Vegas books got crushed in both College and Pro Football. In college football, Dr. Bob went 51-21 and his followers made a killing in Vegas. In the NFL, favs hit 58% and the squares got rich. In 2005 Vegas books lost tons and tons of money

So, in 2006, Vegas decided enough was enough and started limiting the better players, myself included. I'm not even a super-sharp, just a 55-56% bettor and they backed me off big-time. Anything over $550 to win $500 and they started asking me all kinds of questions.

This is the truth.

If they never bothered you, it's likely because you are a losing bettor and they wanted to book your action. I hate to tell you this but it's the truth. The better a bettor is (play on words), the less Vegas wants them. They are afraid of their own shadow.

dan and buddy are correct here...as long as you play with an A rated book, playing online is the way to go...
