Default The two top "Best Bets" in the BTP contest are:

    In college its
    Michigan -7

    In the NFL its
    Steelers - 4.5

I wonder how the consensus Best Bets will do overall? Might be worth following.

Pittsburgh is by far the better team and looks safe at a glance, but Cleveland might keep the game real close in a division game at home in the season opener.

I refuse to bet on away favorites in the NFL. I make a few away fav bets in the NCAA. Pitt might win by 28 and I'd still feel the same.

I have to say: the disparity in both games listed above are pretty shocking.

In L5 years Steelers are the NFL's best road favorite in the spread range over 3 pts up to and including 7 pts.

Regarding Beat the Prick Contest... after we've registered, where do we go to make our picks? It says in the rules that there will be a designated thread to make your pick. Thanks for any help.

The BTP thread. The first post in that thread is your form.

Abacus, the thread is here http://forum.sbrforum.com/beat-prick...k-1-picks.html

You can also find it by going to the forum list, and it's in the Beat the Prick contest, Enter Week 1 Picks thread.

DH, don't you think that stat isn't as valid anymore with Cowher gone? I guess we'll see but I don't think that stat holds near as much water now that Cowher is no longer the head coach.

I will be taking Oregon and the points. Too much offense there with the Quack Attack.

There is a 10/1 ratio on UCLA over BYU in BTP. UCLA may very well cover but this drastic of a slant is just shocking to me.

I noticed that. And 1 out of every 4 contestants took the steelers. It will be cool to see if their are any trends that imerge.

Im not on that UCLA game but I sure wouldnt lay a TD against BYU. They may well cover but BYU is a live dog imo.

Well said Johnny,i don't get it myself either. To bet a road team opening day as a favorite, against a harsh conference rival and not by -2.5 (or maybe as much as -3 in a special circonstence), but -4.5 opening day, maybe week 6,10 or after when one team is out of it and the other totally superior maybe..but i can't take Cleveland...rather the NYJ AT +6.5.
