    Default Books Closing?

Everywhere I look I read warnings to the effect...

"Books are having a record bad football season due to the spectacular fav cover rate. This will likely lead to closures of several weak performers in the industry."

Well that is certainly understandable, but after the last couple of weeks, the dogs are bouncing back solid. Are the books cashing in or are they overadjusting?

The reason I ask is because when I looked at the board this week, all the marks that stood out to me were for the dogs. I mean SF+16, NYJ+9, CLV+4. Some of the easiest dog action I have seen in a long time. Last week was very similar.

Damn I wish I had those financial reports...

first of all, welcome to SBRforum

when you see warnings like that. some people either jump the gun. or, if there was a run like there was a few weeks back on favorites cashing in at an incredable pace. you have to fear the worst and prepair for it.

thats why you gotta ask yourself, is it worth playing at a smaller book during these times. i personaly don't feel it is. i mean why risk it, if you don't have too.

Books were taking a beating but have bounced back recently. It's still recommended you play at books rated B and higher to be safe however.

Thank you for the welcome BBD...

I agree that money should be placed carefully right now but I also see a scenario that looks like this...

Wise money is flowing into power books during a time of paranoia. Power books end up taking the massive hits. They inflate the lines (since they set them), and take more hits. All of a sudden a power book is D-.

Or perhaps it's a devious Wal-Mart like plot to crush the competition by inducing industry-wide losses thus removing the less solvent books.

All that silliness being stated, I see this season absolutely as a time of wealth redistribution. I expect a good amount of movement in the recommended list in the near future.

Additionally, I can't wait to piss off Raiders. Then I'll feel like I really belong.

The A books are like being in a coal mine unless you get near the Pinnacle where you can find a little copper. Right now there's gold in the low-lying hills, although a good amount of it is a bit too shiny. One way or another you are gambling!
