Default Do the offshore books want legalisation in US?

I dont think they can compete.

The big Uk and Aussie books will enter the market, and offer greater variety of lines on US sports.

Players will realise they have the option of polite efficient customer service.
That their cash is safe (at least with the big established books)
and that the book is run to serve their needs rather than the ego of the owner

Won't happen. Christian fundamentalists have too much political clout. In most other countries they'd be largely ignored in some extremist fringe party, but in this two party system it's not too hard to take over an agenda. Extremist minorities who play their cards right have enormous political power in the two party system (because neither party can afford to lose their traditional segments of voters).

It would benefit them greatly. Reduce their costs among other things and get more players.

Dark Horse I'm a bit more optimistic about it. I think there are many fronts going on that favor legalization. There are many powerful industries including the banking industry that would love to see it legalized.

I think it will eventually be legal, man that would be awesone have all the countries in the world involved, we would have so many books to choose from, gambling would boom again.

I question that thinking, sure there are some holy rollers that dont want us to be able to wager, drink, cuss, etc, or do anything fun for that matter. However Im a Christian, my wife works part time for a 2000+ member Christian church, and she claims that gambling thing has never been brought up in her 20 years of belonging there.

Id bet that 95% of the general public have no clue online wagering is semi/illegal in the USA. Unless your a bettor, you would never even know or care about the law sneaking thru in the Port Security Bill. Bottom line is we have no political clout, because the online gamming industry isnt lobbying/passing out $ in DC.

I dont really know, but it seems to me the way our legislative system works its the online gamming industry who let this happen by being tight with the $. If they were handing out $ like the tobbaco,NRA, or liquor industries have done over the years this never would have happened, JMO.

Are they being tight with their dollars OR are they happy with the way things are?
I think they do not want legalisation
Forgot to mention previously they will also have to deal with the big Vegas corporations

Let me see, I love the Greek, but would i want all my money there, or with bally's? You know we all know the answer to that one. The Vegas books would kill offshore they would have to have 25% bonus just to keep up with the Vegas guys. You know how nice it would be to have an assurance that your money was protected

The offshore books had it perfect when it when it wasn't legal here, and the gov didn't care what they were doing. That was the best possible situation for them, if real legit us books got involved no one would risk a penny with the offshore unless they were offering unreal bonus's

The WTO is recommending that the US open its market to European legal, engineering, and a couple other industries because of their potential gambling industry losses. Because of this, we have a lot of political clout. Engineering industry and legal industry does not want to open market so therefore they want the US to let international gambling firms to operate here. Add these to the banking industry and that is a ton of political clout.

    WRONG!!!!

The UK books have no balls and will limit you to $2 if you win a little! Very overrated!

Same story again. I guess Bet365 gets the rest of the books a bad reputation.
Will Hill ,Stan James, Victor C Stan J all offer decent size bets. You amy have to call it in but they usually take the bet (if you call during UK hours when the trader is available - no good trying in US evening)

They certainly offer more than Pinnacle, ALL of their college football lines were circled yesterday, I dont know why they bother posting their usual limits anymore, they are rarely available.

I think legalization with strict licensing and banking regulations would severely cut down on the fraudulent books

I'd still play primarily with Pinnacle/Matchbook.

The vegas books would have to change their business models drastically to compete online with those two.

I've heard this numerous times that Bet365 will quickly limit you, I have not had this happen personally and have made more than a few 1k and up wagers with Bet365 some winners some losers, I'm still not limited in any way with Bet365, I also use and prefer Canbet, they take the higher wagers with no problem and have low juice. I believe that if online wagering were legal in the US, Canbet would be one of the top books available to US players, right now Canbet is my number 1 out.
