Are there not rules on this site? I know that if just about anyone besides JJ posts their picks in the wrong forum, they'll get blasted for it.

If the majority here thinks that there should be a special exception for JJ, that's fine with me. Let's see what the majority says...

Well put, and I followed your lead...I'm all for getting rid of the JJ clutter, as to be honest I'm getting a little sick of seeing thread after thread either about him or started by him (Or any of his several alter-egos). I think he should follow his own advice and just get the hell out of the gambling world; Do himself a huge favor...Ok, that's the first and last post I'll make about this topic, seeing that I'm adding to the problem by contributing even more to the library of JJ information on this site.

Fact is I probably move more players into books and into line services more than anyone.

You need some picks in the main forum, it really is a daily pick thread for anyone thats all. I probably also post the most gambling threads.

Stumpy I run things around here and mods know I am a fukkin loose cannon so they leave me alone unless I call out posters for know reason.

At last bash I pulled out a 44 caliber and pointed it at some fuks head because he started with me on the forum for no reason.

But this situation has been gone over ad nauseum and SBR just doesn't care. They value quantity over quality. (Actually not everyone at SBR feels that way but the ultimate decision makers do.)

Back when this forum began, SBR_John actually started a special jjgold sub-forum. Illusion and I, who were the moderators at the start, were embarrassed and protested on the obvious grounds that it dumbed-down the forum. In my case, I was also against the open support of a well-known, unapologetic racist (I'm not saying Illusion didn't also feel that way but I just remember he beat me to the first complaint and it was on the grounds of quality).

That sub-forum was eliminated after awhile.

I've gotten to the point where I think that, if nothing else is going to be done, they should bring it back and confine all the zany hijinx there. I of course am not just confining myself to the original subject of picks - I'm talking about all of it.

The only thing anybody can do to protest - other than keep complaining to deaf ears - is not sign up for new accounts through this forum or use SBR as a referrer. I believe the success of this forum is measured through sign-ups. I have heard SBR people say that, athough, judging by the way the forum is managed, the success is measured through # of posts. I really don't know the truth.

But it's just one of those things, rainbowworld. There are people in this world who are interested in the Paris Hiltons and jjgolds of the world and there are people like me and you who will never understand it and just find it unrelentingly idiotic. This forum caters to them not us.

Unfortunately for me, this forum still has the most industry discussion by a pretty fair margin so, unless one of the other forums starts copying all those topics, I'll just keep picking through things here for my work-related info - and supporting complaints like this when they come up.

jj is a pillar in the industry, he has set it up so that if one entity steps out on its own to cross him, that entity puts itself in danger of getting crushed. he just knows too many people and can get too much done with a few calls, so people have developed a fear/respect thing for him. and furthermore, the respect percentage with jj is greater than most people who have a fear/respect thing going on, so everyone, including sbr, lets him do mostly whatever he wants.

I agree with you. JJ is winning this poll big so, like you said, people want his picks here. I've found out what I wanted to find out, people actually want things the way they are. It's fine with me even if, as you said, we can't understand it.

Ok, my turn. To answer rainbow's original thread topic, yeah, it would be nice if posters listed their baseball plays in the Baseball Forum, their football picks in the Football Forums, etc. But for whatever reason, some just don't like to do that. Not sure that necessarily makes them 'attention whores' as it could simply be they're stubborn or creatures of habit or any number of reasons. Whatever, it really doesn't matter in the end because, eventually, the threads that are game specific will get moved to the appropriate sub-forums. When time and workload permits, the mods and I will go through and move threads to the sports forums.

I look at this board as if it was a large filing cabinet or library. People come in and pull a book out or open up a new file, others add to the file or read bits of the book, then at the end of the day the library staff or file clerks come in and try to put things back in order.

Now, on to some other subjects mentioned in the thread...

Yes, there are, and they are very simple as I understand them:

1) No shilling or promotions of other sites except in the Promotions & Links Forum. We also don't allow posters to sign up with IDs such as xyz.com. If they want to have the dot-com in their ID, then they are restricted to only being able to post in the P&L Forum.

2) Keep the personal fighting or slamming of other posters in the Private Zone. If a poster wants to say Bud Selig is an asshole in a thread about MLB, that's fine. If someone wants to say Willie Bee is a fat-assed power trip junkie, that's ok in the Private Zone. If you disagree with someone's play for the day, then state why you don't think it's the way to go. If your only reason for not liking the play is because you think the poster is a suck-ass moron, then state that in the Private Zone.

Mudcat, you know that you and I have agreed on several issues before, but in this case it sounds like the forum caters to both crowds, which is the way John has always described his goal to be. True, things might be cluttered at times, but I look at it like walking into a bar and having to step over the drunk who passed out near the front door to get to the stool so I have a good vantage point of the bartender's cleavage. In the end, the drunk gets what he wanted and I get what I'm after.
