First JJ, according to Derrin Brown, you don't need to win bets in order to collect:

Furthermore, according to Derrin Brown, you don't need money to buy extravagant, luxurious items:

First of all, he did the first video in Britain and you know they have a jolly good sense of humor, mate (especially because Derrin Brown is like a national hero there).

Second, why is this stuff even a crime? It's the incompetence of the employees that's at fault, imho, they didn't check carefully enough and Derrin Brown took advantage. Is it a federal crime to keep the extra money when a clerk gives you too much change? I think it's the exact same thing here, this is simply incompetence, it's the business' fault. Derrin Brown simply took advantage of their incompetence.

For anyone interested, I think this is the coolest and most enlightening Derrin Brown video:

i have no idea why UK people love him, he is just trying to be one of those con artest showing off his skills on tv.

in the USA, what he is doing is pretty much like stealing. depends on the vendor. if the vendor press charges, it could be petty theft to counterfeit. and stealing over 100 usd is considered a felony in most states, so the stunt he pulled in the jewry store would land him in jail. coutnerfeit crime is pretty serious here...i remmeber someone from my highschool went to juvy because he put fake one dollar bills in the vending machine. as you can put it, he was just having some o' jollly time with the vending machine and the vending machine is too stupid to tell the difference between real dollar bills and laser printed ones.

I don't understand your point really because Brown didn't counterfeit anything, he used BLANK pieces of paper as money. Where's the "counterfeiting"?

As rainbowworld pointed out, it isn't counterfeiting. They were blank pieces of paper. Derren Brown use mind-tricks to get the person to accept the paper as money. He's a very interesting character:

Mind tricks? You mean messing with senile and visually impared people? Trust me, if you buy something in cash that's worth $4,500, any normal person would count that shit more than once. Don't believe everything you see or hear...

Why should he be locked up? What kind of laws did he break?

by your logic, all con men are just playing mind tricks and they're not breaking any law because the victim usually willingly hand the money over to con artests.

yes, it is counterfeiting because he cut out blank piece of paper to the same size as regular greenbacks. what other purpose do you have for those blank piece of papers? if that is not counterfieting, you can argue that laser printed greenback are not coutnerfeiting because it doesn't have the hologram or the watermark. his argument is not going to hold up in court. if i am one of those vendor i'll put that brit asshole in jail...let's see if he can pull a mindtrick to espcape from the police station.

i seen darren brown on channel 4. i like the shows, but i don't like the blank paper bit because there are two cardinal rules in life. 1) you don't **** with a man's woman. 2) you don't **** with a man's money. it is all fun and games until you break one of them then fun and games turn into guns and bullets.
