Default Evaluating the Online Gambling Landscape

Well guys, football is fast approaching and I'm looking for some insight into the safety of the online sportsbook scene in late August of 2007. I'm not sure. There have been so many incidents- but isn't it true that most had happy endings and in hindsight just turned out to be scares?

First, some of the scares (these are not exhaustive- just either known to me or experienced by me so they will reflect my bias):

    1) The worst was Neteller. That was really the ultimate nightmare but now they are paying and the story ends happily for those trapped.

    2) Bettrojan froze payouts and I thought I would be out luck but they paid.

    3) Sportsbook.com had huge delays but paid.

    4) WWTS was scary and thought I'd lose there- Bodog to the rescue!

    5) Bowmans gone- someone saved them, I think Bodog!

    6) Actionbets gave the runaround but somehow they paid!

    7) Pinny leaves and promptly pays everyone.

And then some of the unhappy endings:

    1) Betonsports and the numerous books associated with them resulted in a complete stiff.

    2) Cascade is now in the midst of a 6-month slowpay....perhaps they will end happily although I fear this will be another unhappy story.

I don't know what to do- I'd like to get involved with some B books (and hopefully some C books) and get back into actively looking for opportunities. Before the Fall I was talking about the New Frontier of moving into the F books to make a killing- lol- no longer that ambitious. But I just don't know what to do. I'd like to get into some of the lowjuice books but many are rated B and C- like Skybook, Catalina, or Bettrojan. Its really against my religion to bet -110 on games and I just won't do it for the most part.

What do y'all think? Can we start playing again?

It's fairly safe once again if you stick to your "ole reliables" like Matchbook, ThePig, Guardian, or LooseLines.

Catalina has been around from quite sometime now and I haven't read any new complaints them at all, although they did change there website to .net instead of .com.

Now as far as Skybook goes. The only complaints I've seen coming out of that camp at all is that there Betmania brand has pretty much turned to crap since this past May. However I'm not sure if there still any association at all between those two anymore, don't quote me on that.

As far as Bettrojan goes. We pretty much covered them with the previous thread you started just a days ago. Nothing new has really changed on that front that I'm aware of.

I've been playing some bases just to prep for football and this is what I've found.

BookMaker AKA CRIS pays like clock work lots of props and in-progress quarters.
(Down Side) Limited to one pay out every 7 days.

Bet Atlas worth a look they pay as well.
Nice funding options and great vig.
    Down Side Limited prop bets.

I personaly feel safe with these books if the day comes when I'm slow paid or No paid by either book I'll bash them just as hard as I prop them. Put your money in with either book and you'll be ok.

I have found that Bet Jamaica has been great for me, I have been playing horses with my Bet Jamaica account this year and I have had a couple of payouts and I have had no problem getting funds from them either, they pay within 24 hours and if you withdrawal more than $200 with them it is as no cost to you once a month, that is the best that I have seen yet from anyone since this new law took effect. I do plan to go with another one like Matchbook or maybe even with Legendz also. I sure do recommend Bet Jamaica to anyone though, they have been great!

Not to be argumentative but maybe you were speaking from an American perspective. From here, their funding options are not good compared to other books and payouts are pretty slow (can be 2 weeks for a bank draft by courier.)

Don't get me wrong, I agree they're worth a look. Nice opinionated lines on MLB. They had good moneylines on football last year so hopefully that will resume.

    NG,

I think if you are going to play at lesser books keeping the balances low and spread among many like a stock portfolio is the way to go. Utilize books that do transfers with each other. Many in CR will use BetCRIS/Bookmaker and that should include Skybook, Looselines and Trojan. A Sportsbook.com is always going to be unique and will play by different rules.

The general consensus seems to be that the worst is behind us.
This may be true. But the risks of playing offshore have increased dramatically. So this is as good a time as any to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Doesn't take too much imagination to see lesser books fall by the wayside in bunches if football volume is significantly down.
