Default How Much Action Do Books Take For Baseball?

    newbie question:

I was looking at the pictures of thepig and I read an article on betfair and I was curious how much action an A rated book like jamaica, greek, etc take on an average night of baseball? Is it in the millions a night, 100s thousands, 10s thousands? The operation for the pig looks like it is geared for a hell of a lot of action and I am guessing that a pretty high volume would be needed to support that operation.

I am a twins fan and I bet them a lot just for fun in the $300 - $500 range a night. Does a bet that size matter at all to a book or is it tiny? Would a game like seattle/twins typically generate more than 50,000 of action a night at a book? Also, how many bets, regardless of amount, would they take on a twins/seattle game during the couple of hours before gametime? Are there hundreds or thousands of bets streaming through?

    Thanks

You are an above average sized bettor for most books at $300 to $500. Baseball volume varies a lot from book to book. Pinnacle might have had close to a billion in action where other books all but take that part of the season off. We can ask Legendz for their volume estimates.

I would think that the major books like Greek, Pinny etc would have hundreds of K's at least wagered on a given night . This is being very conservative, if a few hundred bettors are wagering 1k or more per game then it only takes a few hundred wagers to hit that number.

Look at major soccer matches at Betfair where they show you how much $$ has been matched in wagers, those numbers can be staggering.

Most books have little baseball action, not dead like hockey though.

Greek might take 10k on yankee game from time to time but most games have 3k type volume only
