Default NFL vs Vick: What's Wrong With This Picture?

So Vick will admit that he killed failed fighting dogs in barbarous ways.

Presumably he will also admit to gambling on the outcome of the dogfights.

And that is what has the NFL in a snit, and may cause them to suspend him for life.

For gambling, not for killing the animals with various horrendous methods.

These NFL folk must live in their own little make-believe world.

Similarly, people who eat meat and don't consider how that food actually came to their dinner plate live in their own little make-believe world as well.

    Uh-huh.

I don't consume pig or steer.

    Only fish, fowl, crustacean.

And don't buy the above from any market that forces them to fight before they are killed for consumption, nor any with a supplier that doesn't have a USDA inspector around (at least sometimes).

Not a perfect system but beats hanging Fido by the neck until he is dead.

Yeah, I know. They eat dog in parts of the Orient. Do they have American-type football in Cambodia? Maybe ex-con Vick can try out for the Phnon Peng Poodles.

I'm not talking about you as an individual, but people in general (aside from that, think about how that chicken arrives on your plate). People who think it's the worst thing in the world for Vick to kill a dog should think about how their daily meal arrives on their plate.

I'm tending to think that people with the most venom against Vick are for different reasons aside from the dog incidents. Maybe they don't like him as a person in the first place. Maybe it's just racism. And after reading the SBR board for 2 years, there are a lot of people for which I'd suspect the latter.

Tell me, JJ, did you get up to your 300+ pounds just eating doughnuts and drinking milk shakes? Or were there some double cheeseburgers and chicken burritos thrown in there as well?

Yeah, I know you're not 300 pounds, just another part of your schtick. And it's always tough to tell when you're being serious or just jacking around. But if you really believe what you just said, if you want to lump hunters and fishermen in the same category or a rung below people like Vick who torture animals, then you are indeed a misinformed individual who has no concept of reality.

Darn, I'm a really bad guy.

I think the torture stuff is probably not true. The US loves to exaggerate charges to put the defendant on his heels.

These were low stake dog fights and not fights to the death. Greyhounds are killed every day at tracks. Nothing new. Give Vick justice, He should get 6 months in the can.

Well if you think killing deer is normal you need your head examined.

Choking inncoent fish to death on fishing rods??

Guys that do this are actually killers, maybe in a different way but I have read guys that hunt subsitute killing animals instead of people. I guess getting their anger out where it is legal.

I agree if it is only done for sport; if the animals are eaten afterwards, hunting is fine by me as long as the people NEED the food. Good example is the Eskimos in Alaska. Someone living in Minnesota with a food market two blocks away does not need to hunt for food.

Most hunters I know do it for the kill, they are like crazed animals and celebrate like madmen when they kill the deer. It really is them playing a game of Army using animals as there prey.

Sir, you are an inspiration to us all. May I suggest doing some print ads for PETA? Maybe posing with one of the celeb nude models???

Have you ever gone deer hunting, JJ? How about fishing, ever done that? Or is there a forest of rib-eye trees and drumstick shrubs in Jersey that you just go pick your dinner from?

If you're a vegetarian, fine. But tell me, let's say we pass a law tomorrow that eating any meat in this country is illegal, everyone turns vegetarian overnight. What should we do with all of the chickens, cattle, pigs, etc., that constitute livestock in this country? Just open the gate and let 'em roam where they please?

Sorry, boss, but disagree with you on this one. If anything, what the prosecutors know is probably just scratching the surface of what really went on. Just my gut feeling. Are animals mistreated or killed in other 'legal operations' in this country daily? You bet. But does that make it right for someone, anyone, else to do the same? I'd argue no.

I'm not one of these people who are looking to bury him. But I do think that he personally is a scumbag. However being a country of second chances, if he pays his debt to society by serving his time, donating to these animal rights groups, I believe he plays football again when he's 30.
