If I'm in a book store, the title alone doesn't make me want to lift it off the shelf to read more. To me, the title leaves nothing to be desired. I know enough about streaks, so does any gambler with years under his belt. I don't need to read some other gamblers "confessions" aka diary he wrote on the toilet after going broke. The whole confession placement makes me believe there's some shock value involved, I'm pretty sure most of us have our own degen stories.
Ah, we have our first critique! Based on title alone. And a devastating one at that. LOL![]()
FWIW, in my opinion streaks are the least understood aspect of gambling. And any true insight into them could move a gambler way ahead of the pack. So I would pick up that book without question. Also, there is very little money in gambling books, and some of the most useful ones are purely a labor of love.
But you do have a point with confessions. Just a sec.
Better?

You're right about real insight into streaks being helpful for gamblers. I just assume a random new book wouldn't provide anything new on the subject, but it's obviously up to the author to pull it off. My criticism was all constructive, I figured you wanted to be challenged. I think you're on the right track with your recent subtitle, whats even more important than the cover text though is the look. Most book shoppers, including myself, will generally pick up something w/ a design that catches my eye and read the inside flap/back.
The cover? Film noir feel. Lovers with guns. Something like that avatar of mine.![]()
