In Cincinnati right now, the Rogers Masters series final event before the US Open.

Early round action, and some kid named Juan Monaco is putting it on Nadal. He's up 5-2 in the first set.

I wonder if Nadal wants/needs the rest before the US Open, or if he really is this average on hardcourt.

My suspicions are that it's a combination of both. Sucks because I really like watching Rafa play..

This is the problem -- he gets hurt too easily.

Injured his right knee in the Wimbledon Final vs. Fed, which took away all his momentum in that match.

Now he has a left wrist issue going on.

I'm concerned about Rafa's longevity.

I told JJ Gold not to anoint Rafa during the Wimbledon run..

I would like to see him make a deep run at the US Open, but thanks to Djokovic beating Federer, Mr. Fed will be raring to go in Flushing Meadow and no one else really has much of a chance to win it..
