Globet is one of the big bookies in Europe. They are really big in Italian market and now they want to get big in Spain were they are sponsors of the soccer team Real Betis .

Just a point that I would like to raise here. Globet are one of those annoying bookmakers who leave a wager pending while they decide whether they will accept it or not. Sometimes this can take an hour, what is the purpose of this "conditional acceptance" if not to examine their book and the liability they hold? Why did they accept all of these bets if they were not prepared to honour them? TAP, were these bets taken stright off or did you get the "conditional acceptance" and then the confirmation later?

I've never dealt with IBAS before, but I ma suprised it's taking thiem this long to review the case.
SBR Founder Join Date: 7/15/2005
The unpaid bets were accepted straight away and they were placed many hours before the start of the races. The last that we heard from IBAS was on 2nd of September and they told us this :
Your case is
currently being looked at by our Panel and as you may understand due to
the severity of the situation the Panels needs time to look at all sides
and make a formal ruling following the information acquired.
We understand your frustration at the length of time your case is taking
but we must assure you that it is due to the amount of information the
Panel has to look through in order to make their final decision.

Furthermore Jenx, even if they initially accept your bets, when they cancel them, they never inform you...so you have to take a look at your account with them very often.Plus if you are arbing, leave the other leg for 5 minutes before the game starts. But even like this you can never be sure.

I discovered all this when I saw them having an attractive price, deposited some money and then put my bet on. The bet lost. Needless to say that I will never redeposit with these guys!Originally Posted by Jenx

IBAS's latest reply :
I'm advised that the panellist has posted this back to the office at the
weekend. It is still not concluded however until we have received the
documentation and a ruling has been typed. This will be mailed to you
in due course.

Still nothing new from IBAS, I really wonder why it takes so long for the to decide.

Id forgotten all about this minor classic ... the motorbike betting mother!!
I applaud IBAS for keeping a straight face and still addressing his "mother".
They should pay though.
Even if just for amusement value and originality of the OP .. or rather, the OPs "friend".

LOL, actually you may be right. I see something like: "EVEN MOTHERS SCORE AT GLOBET" banner. Or "WHERE MOTOMOTHERS PLAY".

After many months, IBAS made their decition :
IBAS RULING
All bets placed with a bookmaker are subject to that bookmaker’s rules and when customers open an online account they agree to be bound by those rules. While Globet will allow there to be more than one account per household, their rules make it clear that bets placed on behalf of another person, whether friend or relative, will be void. In this case the disputed bets were placed by the customer seconds after her son had bets on one of the selections reduced or declined. Both sets of bets were placed on the same computer.
While it is impossible to say for certain who placed the bets and whether there was any collusion or not, the similarity in the selections and the close proximity in the times they were placed certainly gives good grounds for believing that the transactions were linked.
The Panel therefore cannot rule the customer operated the account in accordance with the terms and conditions she accepted when opening the account. In the Panel’s opinion the circumstances in which the disputed bets were placed entitle the bookmaker to enforce Rule 4.14.
Shorts comments from me 1) They don't mention anything about the bet that was only placed on my mother's account and not on mine 2) They don't say anything about why Globet didn't cancel the bets before the start of the races (they had 5 full hours to do it). 3) And what about that both bets have been placed from the same computer ??
So think of this, 2 room-mates are watching a soccer match, let's say Liverpool Barcelona, they both have a Globet account, they both bet on half time for Barcelona on the only one pc of their room, Barcelona wins, who will get the money ? By the way I have here 3 pc's (2 back then) and I can use 4 different ISP's, if I had login from a different ISP using a different pc from my mother, according to IBAS Globet should pay ?
I guess that when the manager for Greek customers told me that IBAS is made from Bookies in order to give the right to them was right ( according to IBAS 95% of the cases have been solved in favour of bookies )

What a joke this IBAUS is. They rule that if a sportsbook has a rule to cheat customers, you knew that going in, therefore we uphold Globets decision to rob you!!
Note: Globet's rules state they can cancel a wager if you make a bet on another persons advice or for somemone else.
Anyone know if they ever have cancelled losing wagers ever before?

Thanks tap for letting us know. IBAS are crap ... money was risked at the end of the day ... but as tap says if two sports betting people share a household then (as SBR said earlier) it seems best to contact the book.
This all is a result of globet limiting stakes though ... and, yes, would they do this if the bet had lost??

you've got to love when a scam book pulls out the "we can cancel any wager for any reason" BS...what a crock...

This is an unfortunate business decision for Globet.

You guys are focusing on Globet and not on
http://www.ibas-uk.com/ who took this verdict ...

We sent an email to IBAS telling them that we have huge complains about the decition, especially since they din't say anything about why Globet shouldn't pay the bet that I never bet on.
IBAS' reply :
Thanks for your email.
If you would like the case re-examined by our Panel please state in
writing - clearly and concisely - your concerns, outlining where issues
have not been addressed by the Panel. I will then pass this to our Chief
Executive, Chris O'Keeffe who will, if he feels it appropriate, request
that the Panel revisit the case.
As you may be aware, there is no legislation currently in place in the UK
that specifically deals with dispute resolution or complaints about
bookmakers. IBAS is, as stated in all our point-of-sale material, a
non-statutory body that offers an opinion as a disinterested, third party.
Regards.
