I'm sure this has been talked about in the past, but I'm not aware of the answer. Why can't we make bets online or on the phone with land based casino's in Vegas or Atlantic City, etc...? You know, set up an account with one of them, fund it and make bets at say Caesar's Palace? Or send them some money and make calls back and forth letting em know what part of our money should be played on which game? Is this illegal? Do the land based U.S. casino's not want our online business or is it illegal for them to take it - whether it be online or through the phone line? Thanks.

It's always been illegal to phone in bets to Vegas, or anywhere else in the U.S. I seem to recall that they wouldn't even quote you a line over the phone, even though you could always see betting lines in every newspaper in the U.S.

That's not entirely true Ganch HG. The Nevada casinos have always allowed you to keep funded accounts and place wagers over the phone, so long as you're a Nevada resident calling in from Nevada. When I lived out there I saw many a line be changed due to respected accounts early call in bets....

Incidentally, I just saw a show on the History Channel about the history of the legality of various drugs in the U.S., and it reminded me of how ridiculous a lot of that stuff has been as well, it makes the gambling laws in the U.S. seem very reasonable and consistent by comparison.

I knew they had it worded fancy, but at the current time it's just a fancy way of saying Nevadans can bet over the phone in Nevada. There's more than a few in here hoping that in a few years it will extend to Delawareans betting over the phone in Delaware
