Default My losing streak is really getting to me

I'm down 10K in the last four days. I feel sick.

I'm starting to think the universe is against me and my luck will always be bad. I got clobbered in the detroit vs chicago game this morning doing live betting. I bet heavy on detroit and chicago comes back and wins.

I'm starting to think every game I bet on, I will lose. I haven't won in days now. WTF is going on. I know losing streaks happen but some incredibly bad luck stuff is happening in EVERY single bet I make. I can't even remember the last game that I won.

Take off a few days and don't chase it. Hope things turn around for you.

JJ, I thought you were kidding when you said this before. Are you really serious?

The advice to step away is always the best. If you intend to keep betting, my advice is to regroup and figure out what your bet size to be. Then figure out what % you can aim for and concentrate on that mark and target profit. Going for the gold in the thick of live action can take you on a ride.

Then, don't make any of your plays unless they are on soft lines. You will hit a few.

I think the one about screwing an ugly woman for a streak-buster is a whole lot more fun. But, hey, that's just me.

When in losing streak, lower bet size.

When perspective is lost, stop betting until clarity returns. The way to do this, if you have a hard time stopping, is to completely focus on something that is more interesting than gambling. Many things are.

What sports do you bet? How do you make your picks? Do you hedge your bets?

My damn f***ing nightmare started with the MLB game of Atlanta at SF a couple of days ago. Atlanta up by 4 runs in the 9th inning. Two more out and I win. I'm heavy on Atlanta. SF comes back to tie game. I hedge my bets losing Ks. I'm heavy on Atlanta again when they're up 3 runs in extra innings. F***ing SF loads up bases down by only 2. I hedge my bets. Losing Ks.

That and a lot of other games including today's game of Detroit at Chicago where the losing team keeps making a comeback on me and winning. My luck is f***ing s**t. Loss after loss. I'm going to take a break from gambling. I have no f***ing luck at all.

Maybe you could list your picks so we can fade them? One mans losing streak is another mans winning one.

Just kidding, I know what its like (as do many others here) to lose a bunch of tough ones in a row. Feels like the players know you have a wager on the game and are trying to FVCK you.

Take the advice given here and take a break, let your head clear up and start over.

Sports we've all had tailspins. It's containing them that becomes key. Please listen to these guys and take a break for your own sake...

I thought I was too experienced to have a meltdown, but after losing a potential quarter million in futures within six days early this year(had OSU to win the BCS, the Chargers to win the AFC, and the Seahawks to win the AFC), I went on a two month dive like you wouldn't believe. I called into work in the early part of the next week after the collapses, and I don't think I left the house I was so ill. I even had friends and family leaving messages to check on me after my girlfriend got concerned lol. My man I pissed back close to a year and a half's wages and much of my prior winnings in the two months that ensued, and God what I wouldn't give to have stopped for a month then. If I'd kept going I'd have either won a million or gone bankrupt it was getting so ugly. I was in that ugly mindset where I'm not sure anything would have been good enough at that time though. I really hope you don't have the same mentality, as earning some or all of your money back through extra work during some time off is a win-win proposition. Best of luck mate....

Yeah, I'm going to take a break. I felt physically ill today after my latest loss. Couldn't really concentrate on anything for a while. Kept thinking about my constant losing.

part of the game pal. listen to the advice above - lower your bets. i compare it to tossing a coin. sometimes you hit tails 10 times in a row, etc. your luck will turn. just don't lose the house before it does.

You ever notice that when someone wins they are great handicappers but when they lose they have no luck? Dude, SHITE happens! I have been stung on so many backdoor covers I could puke blood, but alas I know as much as I have been vicitmized by the egregious crap thats been happening to you, Ive also won games I have had no business winning. Like two years ago, when Jax Jaguars score 15 points in the last 2 mins vs Indy Colts to cover the spread by .5 points. In the end, itll even itself out. The only danger is, as someone else stated, is losing your perspective and betting out of whack by chasing previous bets to recoup it all.

Sounds like you're betting too big. I think one of the toughest things to do is maintain same size bets even if you think a game is a sure thing. I remember I was down over 6k in less than a week last year. I was able to win about half of it back the following week. Yeah...don't chase your losses and step back and take some time off.

Yeah I have to agree if you are betting so much you are ill, you are betting too much.

Getting angry at JJGold for giving bad advice is a little like getting angry at Oscar for always being so grouchy.

yea I think the everyday gambler has been there. best thing to do is to step away for a day. always works. go work out, play video games, something like that. Then if you win the next day, you feel better, even if you are still down. I am sure we all think we can get it back, partly because we have done it before. And that is usally the demise I was fortunate yesterday laying big on a two team baltimore and reds. reds came back in the 9th then winning in the 10th. I was so close to taking the brewers too. If did, I would be sick right now too

I find it funny. JJ is a bald loser and because he can't beat the game, he thinks no one else can either.

Being a former Detroit resident, I have to say that I am rather disturbed with the performances by both the Pistons and Red Wings as of late.

I can't wait for baseball season. The Tigers are going to kick some major ass this year.
