Default Has an "A" Rated Book Ever Been Downgraded to "F"?

I've checked in to the SBR site now and then for years, to check the book rankings (but only posted a little more recently).

The question I have is - has a book that carried an A rating ever been downgraded to an F? And ultimateley scrammed with depositor money?

If so, was the downgrade sudden, or did it go in steps, like first to B, then C etc?

I always thought SBR rendered a valuable service (which is why it is cited by posters on other sites). Of course, it's not exactly Consumer Reports for Bettors (as CR accepts no advertisiing at all; supported by foundation $, wills, and small donatiions) but it seems the best, all things considered.

I asked Bill Dozer this exact question when Raiders made a claim that Aces' Gold was A-rated here.

No "A" rated book has gone under stiffing players. That doesn't mean it won't happen... But we spend a lot of time analyzing books. We have a lot of information the public doesn't. If we label it "A", it's because we believe it - not for advertising. For what it's worth, I'm keeping my money only at books on the recommended list until US legislation gets sorted out.

Cascade might be the first one to achieve that accomplishment. However, I believe Pan Am (B or B+) was the highest one that failed.

Hasn't SBR admitted on several occasions that VIP's "A" rating was largely a result of advertising? There's really no other reason to justify VIP being an "A" rated book for so long and currently having an "A-" rating.

I think it's a case that if people spout the same old crap time and time again then some people start to believe it.

Don't you think it's odd that there seems to be a negative correlation between a higher rating and the number of complaints around the forums?

    Could be.

I may be mistaken, but I seem to recall one of the mods saying several months back that VIP's rating was in large part a result of advertising revenue.

Bullshit. There was a time where letters weren't given and a top rated book went under. The corresponding letter would have been an "A". That + at least two B's tanked.
