Its nice to get baseball broadcasts if you dont live near your team or are out of your local broadcast area - but besides that would rather listen to IPOD - Howard Stern used to be funny but show is getting stale

Actually JJ is wrong here.
The same things that are being said about satellite radio were being said about DirecTV and Dish Network.
Sirius/XM have increased subscriber numbers every single year they have been operating. Both individually and as a now merged company.
Next year, their growth will pull them into the plus side for the first time since they opened for business.
JJ usually lets facts get in the way with his perception of something. This isn't any different.
Liberty purchased almost 500 million dollars of debt from Sirius last year, that alone will keep them in business for a decade.

When JJ typed "viewers declining"-----a hammer should have sprung up from his keyboard and cracked on the side of his noggin.
That is the type of behavior modification JJ needs to stop the bullshit.

Stern's not going anywhere. He obviously holds the key to their future success. Why listen to terrestrial radio? God, it's awful, commercials, stale playlists. Sirius is a great product, with a huge subscriber base. They just had a lot of large startup costs, and the government messing up their merger (the longest approval period in history), really stung as well. Wish I would have bought $100 of stock last year when it was at $.12 - it was over $1 last time I checked. Now if only Artie could get well, and return to the show....

XM Sirius will be around for years. Most new cars now have satellite radio preinstalled and XM is tied in with DirecTV.

You hit it on the head Sirius is the best. No commerical breaks every 10 minutes, and can say what you want!

Still remember the deal he got when starting with them. It was an obscene amount of money and stock. That alone made him an icon for anyone not believing he was before.

Don't worry. Satellite radio has been around longer then most think. It just didn't hit the main stream until around 2004. The won't "DIE".

As someone who works (read: trying to work) in the industry, this is what I like to hear. Although, the reality is your "local" station is probably owned by a giant corporation, but I digress.

The bottom line is this; you may all enjoy satellite radio, but that doesn't mean it's staying put. XM/Sirius is still in deep financial trouble. There's a reason these two companies "merged" in the first place. They were on the verge of bankruptcy as late as last summer. Not sure how well they're doing now but I don't imagine it's much better.
Stern probably won't stay with them for a number of reasons. He's lost most of his relevance since moving to sat radio. If he wants ot be in the spotlight, he'll get back into terrestrial radio. If he doesn't want the spotlight he'll just retire. Furthermore, I don't think Sirius/XM have the money ot pay him $100 million a year anymore. I highly doubt he will take a significant pay cut, which is what they need him to do to stay profitable. Howard brought a lot of listeners to Sirius, but he also came with an ENORMOUS price tag; one that may not have been worth it.
Sat radio may be around in five years, but this is by no means certain right now.
