allhorseracing.com ID verification
Hey all, I'm new to this sort of thing, so I was hoping I could get some advice.
I'm a huge horse racing fan, and was looking for an online book to play the ponies. I was going to use bodog, but I couldn't, as I reside in Canda and bodog doesn't take accounts from Canadians.
So, I stumbled accross allhorseracing.com. It looked great, so I signed up, and I funded my account with a CC. I'm still a bit leary of these online gambling sites, so I only funded it with $200.00, just to test. Funding was easy, no probs whatsoever. Plus, it gave me $20 extra, which was really cool. Anyways, I played some ponies, won a few bucks. (about $20).
Anyways, I got an e-mail from them last night. They said there was some discrepancy and because I wasn't from the US they could get info from my bank to veify my info. They said I would have to provide them with photo ID, my CC (front and back) and my CC statement. Now, I don't mind sending my ID, I don't mind sending them a copy of my CC either, but I don't like the fact I gotta send them a copy of my CC statement. See, with my CC and the statement (with my billing address), some guy could raid my CC, no? It has a pretty high credit limit, and a low balance on it, meaning i could get screwed out of a lot if I get shafted. Anyways, the e-mail also led me to believe that if I didn't provide the info, I wouldn't be able to make any withdrawls, which means I would kiss my money good-bye if I didn't provide the verification.
So, I was just wondering if this is standard in the industry, and if I should feel safe sending my personal info to allhorseracing.com.
Thanks for the help.

I've never heard of the place you mention but account / ID verification is standard at most books, especially if using a CC.
I'd suggest using Pinnacle for horses as they offer a 7% rebate on wagers (winning & losing). They also offer heads up matches between to horses at many racetracks. They also pay FULL track odds on Triactors / Superfectas etc. I believe their wagering limit on straight bets is $20,000.
Pinnacle is as good as it gets. I doubt you will find anyone here that wouldn't recommend Pinnacle as a sportsbook.

They used to let you block out some key details on the card, like the middle few numbers, or the expiry date/*** number. Not sure if this is still the case.

Unfortunately, being Canadian, I cannot use legal USA books for the ponies.
Anyways, I just talked to live chat, he assured me that the verification is the norm and that all the info i send will be secure. He said they need it when i go to withdraw funds.
I'm still on the fence about this. would hope someone had some knowledge dealing with allhorseracing.com, they seem very legit, but you never know these days.

Sportsbook.com Group continues to struggle with processing
After nearly two months without a financial processing service, Sportsbook.com (SBR rating D+) was able to process some withdrawals, mostly by wire, at the end of March. Since then, SBR has received over 100 emails from additional slow-paid Sportsbook.com players. Management tells SBR that bank wires are no longer the optimal method due to volume restrictions from the processor, and that it plans to add a second wire provider within two weeks. While checks are currently the better option, the book is unable to reduce the amount of past-due withdrawals as word of the problems continue to spread prompting more cashout requests. SBR is told the Jazette Group plans to send all players an email on behalf of management tonight in an attempt to reassure its users.
Note: All Jazette Enterprises Limited (JEL) sportsbooks are affected and should be avoided at this time. Below is a list of JEL-owned sportsbooks and active licensees.

Yeah, I heard allhorseracing.com was affiliated with Sportsbook.com, and have read a bit of the thread where they are slow payers. Oh well, that's why I didn't put any more than $200 in my account. If I win big, then I will attempt to cash out, if i lose the $200, I'll move on to something a little more stable. Wish I had found this board first. Pinnacle Sports and Jamaica Bet look really good btw.
