Just watched the margarito fight. Why is Oscar DeLohya even mentioned in the top fights for the future. Hasn't he gotten his ass whipped in like 5 out of the last 7 fights. Christ, Moseley, his sparring partner for the last fight beat him up twice. Does this guy have a following that thinks he is going to all of a sudden become mediocre again? Give the young guys their shot. hell, put Tyson back in there, his last few fights were as impressive.

The only guy that really "beat up" Oscar was Bernard Hopkins. Mosley won both fights on the cards, but they were extremely close, hard fought victories by Mosley, and many observers felt that Oscar won the 2nd fight.

Oscar hung with Mayweather for the most part. Mayweather won, but I do not believe he dominated Oscar in the way many thought he would. Mayweather stayed away from Oscar's vicious left hook, and seemed to dance and hide for most of the fight.

I am not an Oscar fan, I just feel it's important to tell it like it is..

I hope Tito comes back and chases him around the ring again. The decisions were close because he is there moneymaker. Lampley and old Merchant practically blow their load on a jab he lands. Who gets knocked out by a kidney shot, wins 25 mill, and then partners up with the guy? smart business man, yes. Pussy, yes. Let the young boys come. Hell, maybe we can pay 60.00 to watch one of them whip his ass, and then he can 69 Larry Merchant afterwards. put ducktape over both their mouthes.

Simple - Oscar is still (by a wide margin) the biggest name in the sport and represents the biggest payday for his opponents. I think he'd be making somewhat of a mistake by moving back down to 147, clearly the best and most competitive division in the sport. However, Oscar is still a very good fighter. There's really no one for him to fight at junior middle, so unless he wants to move up to 160 and fight Winky Wright, as has been discussed, (Winky would destroy Oscar) he may be forced to move back down to welter for a big fight. Cotto's a bad matchup for him, and I'm not sure anyone in the division wants a part of Paul Williams after tonight, but there are a few possibilities. Margarito v. De La Hoya would be a very good fight. I think Oscar's best chance for a big fight would be against Hatton if the talks for a match between Floyd and Ricky break down. Hatton would be more than willing to move up to 147, and the fight would generate huge PPV revenue not only in America, but also in Europe. This would be a great matchup for Oscar, who would wipe the floor with the smaller Hatton.

I hope Tito comes back and chases him around the ring again.

I've seen this many times and I've been guilty of it, too. You're letting your dislike for ODH get in the way of better judgement. I used to allow my dislike for him do that to me, too.

Over the course of his career, ODH has never dodged anybody. He has taken on all comers. Yes, he outboxed Tito badly for 8 rounds, then foolishly took the last 4 rounds off. If he didn't take the last 1/3 of the fight off, he wins that fight by decision.

He smashed the trash-talking Vargas, had two wars with Mosley, got in the ring with a legend in Hopkins, and fought fairly well vs. Mayweather but lost to the better guy.

He's 35 and past his prime, but he gave a lot to the sport and since the day he ran from Tito the final 4 rounds in 1999, he has stood toe-to-toe with everyone and traded with anyone who would dare step in the ring with him.

ODH (finally) has my respect. Some day, he might get your respect too because you obviously know boxing -- you're just letting your distaste for him get in the way of better judgement about one of the better boxers in history..
