Default I met some forum people face-to-face for the first time today

    Stumpage and cobra_king.

It wasn't bad. I mean, Stumpage wouldn't shut up about how he, not George Clooney, should be People Magazine's World's Sexiest Man. cobra_king was totally wasted the whole time.

I'm kidding on both counts. These are a couple of knowledgable players who also happen to be real good guys.

Who cares? I have no idea. Just thought I'd mention that there are knowledgable, good guys in our midst.

How can someone be a good guy after only spending a few hrs with them?

To make a statement like that you would need to spend lots of time with them.

It takes me a good 2 years to put a tag on someone as a good guy, how many times have we made book owners to be the greatest thing ever and they turned out to be frauds.

Why is Cobra King a good guy Mudcat? Can you explain please. I swear I might pay you to read your response.

For gawd sake, run along jj. I'm not going to kiss their asses any more than I already have. If it's an interesting subject to you, start a new thread and talk to your ghosts about it.

So true. Even the word cleavage doesn't quite cover it. Big hefty cougars can have cleavage. This was more like . . . I don't even have the words . . . if anything was ever going to make me believe in God, that was it.

Sounds like you guys knew her from before but I was amazed, particularly at first. It was like, 'Am I really seeing that?'

And then after a few more bend-overs it got to be, 'If I am seeing that much breast, I must be seeing nipple.' I never actually did though. But I kept searching dammit!

    Yes Willie. Pictures. If only.

My point was you cannot make an accurate judgement of someone that quickly. Well at least it worked out for you but once they leave how do you know they are not nut jobs.

Or the turd that the flies continue to feed on. I think that's a better analogy.

So you have no idea how to read people? No wonder you have to make up insane stories about 25 year old girls, her parents, and a pool. Feel sorry for ya.

I answered your latest PM 20Four7.

You know what was good about this meeting?

Obviously meeting fellow players who know something about betting is a good thing. We shared some ideas and hopefully set things up for a mutually profitable information exchange into the future. That was the main thing.

But it was also good just to commiserate with people who have been through (and continue to face) the same crap as me.

It felt like a big kick in the nuts when Neteller left Canada (I can only imagine how Americans in my position must have felt through all the sh1t of the last year). This gets discussed on forums - and forums are useful - but also very ridiculous places. Talking to real people about it was different, better.

I didn't realize that was going to be an important part of the meeting but it was to me.

Since this has become a JJ thread I'd be curious how you've been burned in the past JJ. Was it just gambling acquaintances that screwed you, or friends from other walks of life (if you hang out with anyone not associated with gambling)?

Yeah that must be nice, noone in the real world can relate to gamblers. You can't go off talking about how you dropped 2 dimes on a baseball game otherwise they think your crazy.

Yes d#1. At the heart of it, it's a lonely profession.

Another thing that happened a couple times during this meeting was I would start to explain things. (Example: I might start talking about how books set their lines trying to balance the action, not necessarily trying to reflect the expected outcome of the event. I often get into those kind of explanations with non-players in my life who want to understand what I do.)

But these guys already know that and there I would be blabbing away. It was kind of like I was lecturing Bill Cowher on the basic rules of football. "So what happens Bill is you get 4 downs to make 10 yards."

They were very polite though; they never stopped me and said, "Dude, shut up already! We know! Remember who you are talking to!"

JJ should Mudcat take that as a threat? If so, what do you think would happen if you were to run into one another?

Not true. Some books move on air or to faces. Crap books try to balance action but some books gamble.

How about that. I have Raiders on IGNORE. I don't remember doing that (but can't think of any reason to change it). I suppose if I start getting the vibe that he's working another shill job, I might start to pay attention and warn people.

Anyway, in this case I'm sure he was just disputing this point:

In all the time Raiders was working the forum shilling for his various books - and for all the gullible people who trusted him and lost their money when books like BETonSPORTS went stiff - I was one guy who never came close to being conned.

No forum person knows better than Raiders that I do not have a get-swindled-easily type of personality so you will have to argue with him about that point.

Mudcat- I guess you realize that you don't know what the hell you are talking about which is why you have to attack the poster.

Have you ever heard of a book needing a certain team or total? Books lose some weeks and that would be impossible to do with your theory.

Nice job trying to deflect your asinine statement but you are wrong once again.

Raiders, you think "Theoretically the martingale system is a 100% winning system". You really should be more careful about accusing others of being asinine.

You might be the exception, Mr Gold, but personally, I've never looked at anyone in the 5-foot-4, 300 pound range and thought I needed to run away from them. Even if they did have a 'tale.' People don't automatically look at me and think I've got the physique of a sprinter, but my confidence is high that I can walk briskly faster than anyone who is 5-4, 300+ can run.

Then again, might just be the margaritas talking right now.

You feel that the knowledge that some sportsbooks move lines to get balanced action is like getting a PHD in sports gambling when in reality it's gambling 101.
