Default Why does it take so long for the slow-pays to come?

Week after week I am reading these delightful posts that we shall soon see some slow-pays, but nothing is happening?! I am not waiting for the smaller C- or lower books to go under, but one would expect one of the As or Bs to collapse too.

The smaller players won't be slow paid. A book will do whatever it can to pay the smaller players and rather stall big ones, because the big ones know that if they run to the forum they have absolutely no chance of getting paid. So who knows if a book owes several $100k to some big players that they currently unable to pay?

Default one of the big ones

is definetly on the way down in my book. WWTS has been one stall tctic after another all season. I consider myself a mid-size player and have been with them for 3 years and all of a sudden this season its like pulling teeth to get my money.

Quite possibly there won't be a collapse of any book rated A to C.

Certainly can't see a A to B+ book going under this season.

Maybe books are better run nowadays? There has not been a Book gone bust in the UK since Sporting Options over a year ago & that was a badly run exchange.

Also there seems to be a trend that books in trouble, & smaller books that are not ,to be taken over by one of the bigger players.

The TOW rookie books for instance seem to be run on decent business plans that allow for the inevitable swings in fortune the Bookmaking industry generate.

Maybe im being optimistic but quite often when waiting for the 'inevitable' to happen it does not materialise

acw,

Have any large Asian focused books postup or credit gone down lately? Do you view them as similarly at risk? Always interested in your insight.

acw,
I hope you are wrong about a A or B book going down but it is a possibility. I hope players stick with the A+ books and then they don't have to worry.

Good queston Lakerfan...

Yes, in Asia things for the books are not going good, which does not have anything to do with the NFL, but on the European football many favourites are winning too.
The good thing though is that nearly all books here in Asia are credit shops and settle twice a week, so problems surface quickly. I have not been hearing of many no-pays, but I have been hearing of many agents not willing to take anymore positions themselves against their clients, which results in clients having limits cut, etc.

If things do not return at least to a break even hold then we will see some fallout by the superbowl. The bigger books are fine although a continued drought could curtail advertising spending in 06.
