imgv94, it is a big secret and neither one of us are cool enough to know the answer. It is some alpha-male forum superiority mental defect they inlict on others whereby someone asks a reasonable question and no one answers because most people know the answer but they want to belittle the few that don't.

As I've previously mentioned on this forum, Ganchrow HG works for me, doing my fundamental (non-technical) handicapping work.

We also happen to old friends from high school.

There's nothing more exciting than that.

thanks Granch and great parlay calculator BTW.

Does it tell me how many "cents" the half point is worth or is that an exercise left up to the user? I only looked at it for a sec but didn't see this but it does look phenomenal.

    Very nice work.

SBR should hire you to fix their live odds.

All the pieces are in place for that to be terrific but SBR needs someone with credentials like you to tell him to hire some cheap talent from one of the rent-a-coder type places and build a real interface.

Tell him to stay away from .NET as this is why G&J sucks so bad. Tell him that Borland makes some fantastic IDE's and Delphi and/or C++ programmers should be easy to find on these outsourcing websites.

Tell him to tell his Indian and Russian coders (for which he will be paying about $1.5 US per hour for) to copy the Don Best interface exactly.

Tell SBR_John all these $1.50 per hour employees need is an example interface and the XML feeds for all those great books.

Thanks Ganch. You are one of my favorite posters even though your Monte Hall thread was a little on the mentally defective side.

    Good luck this football season.

Are you referring to the parlay calculator or the half-point calculator?

That's an issue that the calculator can help illuminate.

One can't really talk about the "value of a half point in cents" with any degree of precision without first specifying: 1) the theoretical hold; 2) the win/loss ATS probabilities at the current market; 3) whether you're buying or selling; and 4) whether you're moving on to or off of the integer.

    To wit:
Given an NFL market of -2½ -115/+2½ -105, the value of selling the half-point from -2½ to -3 would be -23.64¢, while the value of buying the half-point from +2½ to +3 would be 26.37¢.

Given an NFL market of -3½ +100/+3½ -108, the value of selling the half-point from +3½ to +3 would be -23.07¢, while the value of buying the half-point from -3½ to -3 would be 24.35¢.

No. We're not the same person. And JJ knows that full well ... he's spoken with both of us on the phone.

We're two completely different people and both Willie Bee and Bill can vouch for that fact.

If I indeed had a ghost, wouldn't one that included "Ganchrow" within the name have been a rather foolish choice?

I think it should be obvious to most people from our writing styles and specific skill sets that we're not the same person.

Most pro bettors have several people working for them. Any group will have a data miner and one or more math geeks, plus researcher/handicappers for whatever small sports they attack.

If it was the same guy then I would say

    a) you have done a good job of creating two completely different characters. Maybe you should try writing some fiction.

    b) you have too much time on your hands and ridiculous priorities because going to that effort - for so little return - would be jjgold-ish in its pathetic pointlessness.

Ganchrow has never struck me as being a Paris Hilton/jjgold disciple.

I can assure you I did not speak with Ganch, I am in daily contact with execs here but only dealing with my role as line consultant. I would bet $10,000 that they are one in the same.

No one figured out I was the poster Slugger a ways back

Interesting that "the gang" rushed in here to defuse the notion that Ganchrow and HG are the same person..

I also find it interesting that JJ has never spoke with Ganch or HG as well.. Real convincing.

    They are different for sure......

I can tell you, I'll be collecting data on all the games and teams this year in NCAAF and I could use someone working for me. It's not easy to do it by yourself......

I know Ganch likes the spotlight so why not create 2 different characters? He is sure smat enough to pull it off. Why does he do this?? Maybe ego??

Why in the world would Ganch have conversations with me?? It does not make sense. We are from 2 totally different worlds.

I could be wrong, but my opinion is you can't simply pigeonhole either of them like that. Fairly complex individuals from what I know of them, the biggest difference being HG has an affinity for cool hats and plain ol' ordinary Ganchrow does not.

I use to think they were different...then I asked Ganch and he told me they were two different people. Started paying attention to the writing style and it was clear to me they were different.

Do you really think I'd create a ghost with a name so similar to my own? What could possibly be the point?

I tell you what, I'll make you a deal.

If you can prove that HG and I are the same person I'll pay you $1,000 and I'll promise not to kick your ass when I see you at the Rx Bash.

The thing I do not like is Ganch bringing me into his sick game. I am a professional gambler and also doubling as a football player on my local HS team , I have no time for this.
