i think it is a smart thing to do for the second half of the MLB games where you pick action action rather than listed pitcher...ONLY FOR HUGE PLUS MONEY ML/RL bets...that is odd of +150 or higher. the reason is that i noticed from last year's betting, there are more starting pitching changes than the first half of the season. So if you have plus money and took action action, your bets will be locked in regardless of the starting pitcher change. This will work for your advange if a favorite team changed the pitcher, so the line moves closer to even. However, as i said before, action action is not smart when you're taking chalk. i think 9/10 when a pitching change happens, the lines are always moving closer to even. i might be thinking about placing all my big dog bets from this point on with action action.

Your bets will all change to the new line when there is a pitching change. You don't lock in the prices at all.

If the starting pitcher don't factor in to way you bet it, then Action is the way to go. But like Santo said, it will adjust to the new pitcher line.

Unless you find a local bookie that does it the way your thinking (which is hard to do, but not not impossible) thats the only way you can do it.

Not true because sometimes your selection has nothing to do with who is starting. I am a big bullpen guy, and a lot of time I bet big underdogs just based on bullpen advanatge alone, so i always bet those games with Action. On the other hand, 100% of my bets on Favorites are Listed Pitchers (either both teams or on my team), because on the rare occasions I bet favorites, it is usually because they have a better starter AND bullpen, so the starting pitcher becomes more meaningful for me.

Even in that case, your underdog may become favourite with a pitching change, would you still want them at -150 if you bet +150? Also, it might open -150, but you could have got -135 with shopping, so you lose out there also.

If I think that a dog may become a favorite if the opposing pitcher scratches, I sometimes List OPPOSING pitcher only, but that is usually with smaller dogs only. You almost never see dogs of +150 or more become favorites, so it is virtually a non-issue there.

Also, your last point of line shopping has nothing to do with my post. I DO line shop with the best of them.

Let me add that regardless if I plan to bet Action or Listed, if I feel that I will get a better line later, I will wait. In other words, there is no corelation between Action/Listed betting and the timing of my bets.

My point with line shopping is that if you take any form of action wager, you forfeit the right to line shop the new line when it comes out, as you get stuck with the opening new line.
