On what day does your week start?
If you keep weekly records, on what day do you start?
My week used to start on Sunday, because of NFL. But it didn't make sense that the busy Saturday NCAAF schedule would be the last day of the week. I tried Monday, like normal folks, but then the NFL would be the last day. That was impossible.
So now my week starts on Friday. This is the perfect day. Not only does it allow Thursday night football to be in the right slot, but with Friday being 'Monday' I also get to ease into the week, by not starting out with the heavy football action of the weekend (now on my 'Tuesday and Wednesday').
Also, the real Wednesday and Thursday are my weekend, which makes sense as well, because at least one of these days has little action.
Don't think this was an easy decision, folks. This took years to figure out.

A lot of people would consider Tuesday to be their first day of the week for record keeping and expecting payment from the man.

Tuesday for me too. Monday Night Football ends the week during NFL, and it really doesn't matter much during the football off-season.

Isn't it a main advantage of a professional bettor that he has a 'weekend' whenever he needs one and can work when it's most profitable? So why declare a special day as 'weekend'?

This is definitely football-based. I could see Tuesday, but prefer the quieter activity of capping the upcoming football weekend towards the end of my week. That way the emotionally more demanding part (Saturday and Sunday) is where I'm still fresh and ready to pull the trigger at a moment's notice. So the upswing (of the week) is where the action is, and the downswing where most capping is. Not that it really matters, but it's fun to see how the conventional week model can be transferred to unconventional people. And without breaking things down into a week format it all becomes a big blur.

I do Monday-Monday, because of the soccer games being primarily Sat/Sun.

Interesting. So almost everyone has the main chunk of action (football or soccer) towards the end of the week; more or less in the spot where normal folks have their weekend...
Can I ask another question? If your weekend would be the first thing you would mark on your calendar - any two or three days in a row -, on what days would that be?
To be honest, I stumbled upon Friday by accident when I began to use a new calendar. When I realized how much I liked it, I began to wonder why. Then I saw that my earlier concepts of the week hadn't set aside much time for relaxation, other than as an afterthought. If that is a prevailing attitude among gamblers, it would be easy to connect the dots to burnout.
And I do suspect burnout is among the biggest enemies of gamblers, especially in the stages before it is recognized as such (burnout doesn't happen from one day to the next, but is a slow process). So preventing burnout would be a key strategic move. In sports gambling the action is pretty much non-stop, and if we don't choose days of no-action -first-, it is easy to become part of that blur. In the blur the sharpest edge is quickly lost.
Thank God it's Friday.

I generally take Monday and/or Thursday off this time of year because of the lighter schedules. During soccer season I generally go to the Spurs games, so took off whatever days they play (two of Sat/Sun/Wed/Thu) generally, and then any days when there's no events for which I have accurate line information. I don't do much research, so placed my bets for soccer before/on the way to the ground usually.

Tuesday.
Because durning football season, Monday is the end of the week in the NFL, so it just works better that way. So it grandfathers into the other sports.
Mondays in Baseball usually produce very limited plays for me, as the schedule on that day is light. Most of the series start on Tuesday after the weekend ones.
So yes, Tuesday.

not usually the case. with these payout has to be routed through international banks and betting events around the world, monday morning in europe is sunday night in nyc. especially with morning games overseas starts sunday night here. hard to say when is the start of the week. for gambling purpose, it is convient to use a period of time with the least activity around the world. that is usually tuesday.
that is why it is nice to stop gambling once a while and live in real-world time for awhile
