Default SBR Spreadsheets

Now, this issue comes up quite often on here. Tomato is the main antagonizer here. Here is my question is SBR Spreadsheet for personal use or for someone to measure their dick with on the forum?

I use it for personal use. Keeps numbers easy, I can break it down by sport, date, etc something I can't do as easy with my excel sheet. Now, I have gone three stretches using the SBR spreadsheet. Typically I post all the plays I make somewhere on the forum whether it be my thread or someone elses asking about a game.

I have had 3 runs with the spreadsheet. One a while back where I just couldn't keep up with putting picks in so the spreadsheet was really useless. I think I was about even so just cleared all my picks. Then about 2 months ago I picked back up with it and lost $9k that I am VERY open about. I again cleared the spreadsheet, not to hide my losses but just because I stopped betting and wasn't using it anymore. Then I decided to come back just last week and begin betting again so I began using the spreadsheet because just copy/pasting photos of my spreadsheet beats the hell out of writing each individual play. I am currently doing very good with it.

But please tell me what the public opinion is. Am I a fraud for clearing my spreadsheet twice? Is the spreadsheet more of a dick measuring tool then a personal use tool?

I see a bunch of people getting called out as frauds because they have deleted picks in their history. My theory is if you delete you whole history fine, but if you are using it to measure your dick by weeding out losers then that is probably not right.

How do you feel about them?

i'm on tomato's list. and guess what, i deleted all my plays again just two nights ago. his list is ridiculous. i had a monster winning season last year and i deleted it all after i took a break and started anew.

the main problem is that everyone thinks everyone will eventually become a tout. so smashing everyone from the beginning will make it harder for them. i compared the touting business with prostitution in an earlier thread. all touts make relatively good money for doing (basically) something that anyone can do. and every regular bettor who knows this hates them because they themselves aren't making money selling picks.

as for spreadsheets, the fear is one day someone with a good spreadsheet will say, 'i'm going tout, here look i'm documented on my spreadsheet'. a regular bettors job is to prevent as many people from going tout as possible because they will make money regardless of how good or bad they are while the regs have to grind out monthly profits. so if there's one iffy thing about ur spreadsheet, or one misrepresentation of record, you will be jumped on and called a fraud right away.

So your saying the idea on the forum is it is for public use?

you can't have deleted or edited games on the spreadsheet and still using it to prove how good bettor you are, this is common sense.

Once a bet is placed there's no reason to change it, and if by any chance you made a mistake a thread should immediately be opened and the members should be informed about the change which you plan to do. Print screen before and after the change is a must.

if the spreadsheet is for personal use then you can of course delete games as you wish, the problem is that some people, especially on the soccer forum, are using altered spreadsheets to brag about how "sharp" they are...but on the other hand they are form Europe so they don't know any better.

I agree with this for the most part. However, if someone uses a spreadsheet and then loses track or misses a few days and then stops using it. Should they take heat for re-starting their spreadsheet?

I have deleted my spreadsheet more than 5 times so far...I've used for personal use and could care less for what one or other member thinks of that.

Nowadays I track my plays with an offline spreadsheet created by Williams22 (big props!) and share each and every one of them in my thread. The thread AND the spreadsheet are for my personal use, and I don't advise or ask anyone to look or check them out unless I want his opinion on the plays. I have never edited or deleted any of the picks in that thread.

If you want, however - to be tracked and rated fairly - open a thread, share all of your picks there, and keep a record that is updated consistently.

End of the story.

Take a look at my baseball thread in signature...I have a few edits when I first started to add a line, or usually a loss. But once I understood all the functions this is what a year long winning thread looks like.

The majority use it for personal record keeping. Most aren't even posters. It's not much different than a formatted excel or a Google spreadsheet that you can edit.

If you look at other sheets you can always see the run someone is on with the logs. If someone has is 8-2 they can't delete or edit two plays without it showing in the log. That makes it worth looking a for others. For the most part, if you want to see someone's plays you already know if what they are up to and if they are capping or trying to prop themselves up.

G's, look man I value your integrity but why are you giving other members shit (Jimmy) when they have explained their stance to you? how do you know that mmike or others share the same technical knowledge that me and you have?

I can only testify about Jimmy. But I think BJ & mmike should be given a chance to explain themselves.

So we can all agree that
A) it is the choice of someone to either use it personally or use it to swing their dick
B) It is not ok to delete picks out of a spreadsheet
C) It is okay to clear the spreadsheet

So that is what we are saying? If so, I agree. It should be pretty clear whether or not someone is altering their sheet to make it look better or just deleted there sheet because they lost track or stopped using it.

It's for both. If you want it purely personal just keep it in excel.

I do not even follow your posts but you seem outspoken, see you arguing with quite a few posters... Also I did not say anything negative about Bj, i answered his question how to really show winning picks. Obviously mmike is one of the trolls that stops in my threads but only when I lose... 5 pages of deleted picks is a ton!

About Jimmy I said nothing at all... Are you a little slow? Go back and read what I wrote... I simply asked him if he was the same guy that there was a thread about...

I have a problem with clause C actually. Clearing the spreadsheet is essentially the same as editing a pick.

If you are using the spreadsheet explicitly for personal use - do whatever you wish.

If you intend to share, boast, or cry over your record or picks - do NOT edit, do NOT delete and do NOT do anything that could possibly cause some warning signs to float over your shiny avatar. I would also suggest starting a thread sharing ALL your picks, regardless of the fact whether you post your record/plays daily/separately in another thread.

Real simple...take a look at my thread that is the way to prove you can win. I stopped due to e-mails and messages asking for my picks earlier and earlier... Also was offered money a few times in e-mail...

Became way to much... I am not the compulsive type like 95% on this forum.. So now I just drop a pick once in a while like this weekend.

2 of the 3 people you named BJ and Jimmy I never said anything negative about...and until you mentioned it all I said about mike was he had 5 unexplained pages of deletions in the last few months...then I mentioned he trolls my threads for losing picks... That is why you hardly see him in my threads... He just needs a few minutes to make up a reason for deleting over 30 picks...

So when you write something it should make sense...

if I was gonna delete loses to make my SS look better
, dont ya think I;d be hitting over 53% overall

actually I got over 300 deleted picks since I've been using the SS
NCAAF 60% for 2010
NFL 57% for 2010.

G you should be hitting at about 85% with all the MLs you play

G, why dont you use a SS?

if the spreadsheet is for personal use you can do whatever you want. But if you want to use it as a proof of how sharp you are, then there's no room for editing or deleting.

I have always used it to validate myself here, you get no respect if you do not keep your records with your plays. My numbers are bad but I have more respect than most for not quitting on it. I delete picks at times but only because of a typo as you cannot edit certain stuff and I just re enter the same team minutes after with correct info. I love the spreadsheet and many follow me and fade me.
