i was reading the threads earlier about pinnacle's website is down. and someone got an email from them stating that pinnacle got DOS attack. This is a bit odd because nothing important is happing right now. I would expect DOS right before the superbowl or NBA playoffs. Unless this is a warning attack asking for ransom money? Any news updates from pinnacle website? I doubt the 1st round of winbledon is something big.

Wimbledon tennis = quite a big event. Remember they no longer aim at the US market, so big events are more and more likely to be key soccer matches, tennis etc..

These DOS attacks are normally by eastern european criminal gangs.They have been targeting mainly the big british bookmakers over the last few years.Coral,blue square and hills are the three that spring to mind.Always on the eve of a big tournament.What they do is flood the web site with more requests than it can handle,causing it to go down,then follows the demand for money.The only place i have seen reports on this were in a publication called the racing post.

pinnacle is making money based on volumn, there is no phone wagering option...or is there? so DOS is the worst thing that can happen to pinnacle. if i am running pinnalce, i would borrow some money to buy some serious hardware to fight against DOS attacks.
