Tuscaloosa, Ala., poker players may have to find themselves a new game after Douglas O'Neal Rhoden Jr. was arrested Thursday evening for running an illegal gambling establishment from his home.

The Tuscalossa News reported that Rhoden is being charged with promoting gambling and possession of gambling devices. These are Class A misdemeanors, each punishable by up to a $6,000 fine and up to a year in jail.

Police were alerted to possible illegal activities at Rhoden's house after a member of the community called the police department about it.

Tuscalossa Police Capt. Greg Kosloff said the phone call prompted an investigation by an undercover officer who then observed alleged illegal gambling activity at Rhoden's home.

During the arrest, the police confiscated money, poker chips, poker cards, poker tables, tallying sheets and a laptop computer connected to the alleged illegal gambling operation.

Kosloff also told the Tuscaloosa News that Rhoden also had gambling machines in a metal shed on his residence, but when police arrived, the machines were no longer there.
