Nifong Suspended, Effective Immediately

As a part of the suspension, a judge says he'll order the Durham County sheriff to prevent Mike Nifong from carrying out any duties of district attorney.


Durham, NC -- A Durham County Superior Court judge has decided to immediately suspend District Attorney Mike Nifong from office.

Nifong had announced he would resign after July 13th, but Judge Orlando Hudson says that's not soon enough.


As a part of the suspension, Hudson says he'll order the Durham County sheriff to prevent Nifong from carrying out any duties of district attorney.

Easley also said today that Nifong should leave office sooner, rather than waiting a month.

Nifong, who oversaw indictments against three Duke lacrosse players, was disbarred on Saturday for his handling of the case.

DAs are all alike, they're all bunch of asshole lawyers with too much power. i love this story because nifong got what he deserve and hopefully he'll serve as an example for the other DAs. We need the check and balances in this country...too many rights have taken away from the citizens.
