Default How To Stop A Losing Streak?

Sounds crazy but the best way is to bet both sides to the game just to snap out of it and get a winner. I have done this in horseracing also where I bet evert horse in the race. One year I was 0-47 with horse bets and bet all 9 horses in the filed and the winner payed $6.80.

How do you break losing streaks?

I am 100% serious here, I have done this many times through my career. 3 Weeks ago I was 0-11 in bases so found a -105 type game and bet both sides and of course had the winner and it turned my luck.

I can understand doing it in baseball, football or any other sport where you may find -105 on head to head, but to do it on sports where there is no head to head is just ridiculous. Its like being 0-6 in Nascar and then placing a wager on all the drivers. Unless you get really lucky and a no-name wins your going to take a hit.

Anyway to answer your question. The way I usually try to break a losing streak is to just take a break for a week or so and clear my head and enjoy life. Then when I come back I've already forgot about the losing streak so therefor I've already ended it and didn't have to risk anything. : )

May be stupid, but as long as it works for me, why mess with success?

I have done a few things that have helped. Taking a break can help. Cutting down on the number of plays or just cutting my betting amounts in half until you get back on track. But realizing losing streaks are a big part of gambling, sometimes doing nothing is the right thing. How much confidence you have in your ability is important, if you are questioning your plays all of a sudden when in the past you didn't, taking a break is what I would do. I have taken time off twice in the last 10 years and both times it helped me get back to winning.

Agree. If it's a real losing streak, where you can't hit water with a paddle, the best way is to stop betting for a few weeks or even a few months. That could save a lot of money.

I'd take action from anyone who was dumb enough to bet both sides of the same game because they thought it would snap their losing streak...

betting both side is just to break the losing streak. you don't really want his action when he is betting couple of dimes a game and you can't find anyone to take the other side.

Good point Coach...i think what Coach is trying to tell us is that these losing streaks, while inevitable, have a strong psychological effect on the bettor more than any financial harm. The bettor believes that s/he can never win another bet. Coach is suggesting to play both sides as a way to pick up a win...just so you can psychologically tell yourself that you won a game which will jumpstart you.

    As usual, very insightful coach.

Psychologically, there is nothing accomplished with betting both sides that can't be accomplished in other ways. If I were to bet both sides of a game, I'd say "yippee, I am a winner", then I'd look at my account balance and reality would set in and all the benefit of believing I can win because I cashed a winning ticket would be lost. I would rather bet a small amount on a big moneyline favorite. I'd likely cash a winning ticket and have plus money to show for it...

Judging from his posts, I don't think jj is a long term winner and if I had an exclusive contract with him to book his bets for a longer period of time -- say, five years (so I could weather his winning streaks) -- I'd gladly take his action.

Exactly what I was thinking. I still say "a break" is the best thing to do when your on a losing streak.

Go to a club... Get drunk and find the ugliest girl there. Get laid by her and your losing streak will end. You've hit rock bottom, things gotta change right?

I've just lost 22 races in a row over a five day period. I think my record is around 30. I play win and exactas. Still up for the year though.

Best cure is to take it easy for while. I'm starting to yell and throw shit around after each beat so I know I'm at that point.

Even better, take the favorite on the money line and the underdog on the spread or run line. This way you definitely win a bet and you may even come out ahead. That is, if you can convince yourself you made two bets and not a single bet that the favorite wins by exactly one.

But why would you want to break a streak, JJ? I thought they are fun for you, win or lose.

I have used the same stategy too to cure my migraines. I take a hammer and whack my knee and because the pain is so intense I forget about my migraine and go to sleep.

    Are you nuts dude?

JJ would you mind letting us know when you're betting both sides of a game? I haven't seen you post that before, and you didn't post these plays during your slump....
