Welcome Fezzik's Place Posters! Please introduce yourselves...
In case you're not in the forum loop one of the U.S. based competitors has decided to switch to a model in which participants have to pay twenty dollars a month to post. They also get the master's email address and picks. What's cool is that you can still read the content, you just have to pay to post.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and you can only wish them luck.
FP was a vegas-oriented board, while the focus here is offshore. The common denominator, of course, is an interest in sports betting and getting the best of it and getting paid. Vegas information and inquiries are certainly within the boards ken.
I"m just a regular poster here, but would like to offer a welcome to all Fezzik-Placers looking for a new home. Feel free to introduce yourselves. What are you looking for in a forum? What sports do you specialize in? Where are you in your sports-betting learning curve?
I have nothing but good things to say about FP, but would like to extend an invitation to those who post casually to walk these halls for a while and see if it can feel like home.

Speaking as a long time lurker of Fezzik's site here. This move Fezzik is doing is actually not all that uncommon in other industries guys. I think he has the right concept in regards to taking his forum underground due to the state of the industry. However I feel he's going about it the wrong way though IMHOO. There are just way too many free sites out there for somebody to even pay money to post and get his plays. In case you guys forgot his 2005 NFL plays were awful.

I think it will work, I will likely pay the $120/yr or whatever it is if the sharp posters I learn stuff from stay, which I suspect they will.

Many of these sites are looking at the prospect of operating losses for this year and probably next year too.
Most are standing pat mostly out of pride and the fact that the pain of losses has just stated.
Something will give sooner than later. There are only bottom feeder books willing to pay these sites and even their money is not enough.
Fez is making a move and without a doubt others will follow. Not follow as in change to a pay site, but drastic changes are on the horizon. Some will sell, others will have nothing to sell and just pull the plug. Most will try to reduce costs. lower ad rates and try to take the pain.

How about you, John? I'm sure you're taking a big hit. Are you going to be able to survive with a lot less US players being able to open through SBR?
When it first happened I thought it might be a boon for you as you have the best offshore info and now info is what the players need more than ever. Now, though, I realize there's not going to be anybody for whom this doesn't suck.

There are many other ways to take ad revenue though. Now grant it... It might not be gaming related at all, but other revenue can be generated. At this stage of new laws you must explore every option out there though. My personal opinion. I would have recommended to Fez to start taking non-gaming ads in order to keep the site free. I highly doubt any of his members would have cared one bit if he were do go that route instead of making it a pay site.
Hell, If anyone could make a pay type site work it's SBR IMHOO. The reason I say that is because not all watchdog sites actually go that extra mile to get there members paid like SBR does. You could actually look at it like paying union dues or something along those lines. I wouldn't recommend going that route by no means at all, but I'm just stating an opinion.

I cannot believe they pulled the plug on the forum without warning...
The forum as we know it is done.....now a new no charge forum for
Fezzik invitees only will spring up some time soon....
I bet my invitation gets lost in the mail...
I still cannot believe the LVA decided to go this route with this
sudden shutdown today around 5:00 pm pst...
I guess Fezzik finally got the last FU in to all bashers....

We are lucky to have multiple sites. We are also fortunate to have sites and businesses outside of gaming. Mostly we are fortunate to have great managers.
Our investment in R&D spending and ongoing projects such as SBRLines and a new top secret site continues at record levels and will continue at least well into next year.

What do you get when you get a whole bunch of sharp bettors in a forum?
A square forum. Forums only work because there's a mixture of everyone.

I made a post there some time ago.....stating that it was only a matter of time before Fezz started charging. It's too bad. Who is dumb enough to pay almost $200 to post on a gaming forum. Just post here. There are enough sharp guys....
