Is Jello Biafra gone? What happened?
He was one of my favorite posters -- we always thought alike. What about Mudcat, haven't seen him either.
I ignored all those "what should we be allowed to say on SBR" threads -- is it something to do with that?

I went through some archive posts today and saw him writing some really compelling and fantastic stuff. I just find it a pity that he took the forumville stuff so seriously and decided to start a campaign against SBR. He isn't banned as far as I'm concerned, but him and Mother****er are out of here and only jump by to write something cynical/negative in SBR related threads and that's it.
I don't know who is that Jello guy...

Mudcat, Jello and Robyn are big losses to the forum. Others too...I am not sure right now who is gone and who is not gone. Mudcat is very sharp, with great comedic writing ability. Jello is the most UNRacist person to have ever existed, very strong poster and solid from what I could ascertain on the handicapping front. Robyn's posts directed at people who had pissed her off were/are legendary.

If you don't mind, someone briefly explain to me what it is that "went down" here. I didn't realize it was something that would result in posters leaving/being banned/whatever, so I wasn't really paying attention to the related threads.
Thanks.

Controversy over the N word.
Inner conflicts between key posters.
A battle between the fun and the intelligently funny.

A few posters got banned (betplom) and a few left on their own accord (Bread and Robyn). Others have reduced their posting here (Mudcat).
Mudcat is probably still around here, but certainly won't be as active as he once was.

People left for not feeling welcomed here. Management also didn't care so the divorce worked for both parties. Others stayed and enjoy the show from front row.

I argued badly with him and his BFF Mother****er, but I admire his intelligence and feel he is to be regarded as a loss. Not a loss like the ones those pricks here talk about, but a true loss to the SBR community.

Not taking issues with you but trying to give you a different perspective.
Do you have a favorite team in sports? If you do then if the team owner makes some ridiculous deals or if the team coach puts out a terrible lineup or the teams best player get caught dealing drugs in his spare time, do you not take that to heart due to your connectiong with your team?
Yes it is the internet and yes there are way more things important in life but in some significant ways things that happen here matter to some and that doesn't make them more or less normal than anyone else.

He is always rooting for the team who wins the Superbowl every year. You have seen these guys who buy the Superbowl team's jersey every year and wear it everywhere for a year to make themselves feel better. Then the next year they move to the new winner.

EggNogg, if you are gonna continue to proclaim yourself a king, you really need to work on your crushes. Research Bateman_Patrick and get a glimpse at how it's done. Take a long look at some of Pavy's post and see an alternative yet extremely effective form of flaming another poster. You game is weak EggNogg and your few remaining followers will soon see you for the joke you truly are.

I understand what you are saying. I don't think we'll agree. SBR is a bad creation of a public sphere, there is very little collaboration or productive works that come out of the Players Talk section (the section where most of this tomfoolery happens). It's not like a bunch of paid editors from Wikipedia left. You have a bunch of people with a lot of free time on their hands making a big stink on an online forum that owes them nothing. They didn't build anything, and all of us (except a select few, none of the people who left) will be forgotten.
Keeping that in mind, how you justify getting so upset that you leave, if you truly believe SBR holds significance in your life, is beyond me. It's a bunch of drama queens craving attention, which probably stems from some real life issues they suffer from.
As for your sports metaphor. I find people who get upset when a team makes a bad move extremely pathetic. Probably the most pathetic people on the planet, as they have allowed their roles as consumers to actually create their personalities. Really sad. Especially the ones who aren't even season ticket holders. They would be the equivalent, I suppose, of unpaid posters.

I like that your reply was well though out and presented in a very diplomatic way. I can agree with your assessment looking at it from your perspective. For me the only sub-forum that holds any place for me is college football as that is really the only sport I cap. Players Talk is for pure entertainment and a place where non sports related friendship evolve. True it isn't life threatening situations and if someone leaves it's not something any of us won't recover from but even if these are purely e-friendships they are still friendships for the most part. What common bonds people share can't always be explained nor should they have to be. Just the fact that bonds can be made makes Players Talk kind of a special place. Therefore being that it is a special place to some it is understandable why when things get rocky some try to fight to keep it what it represents to them.

I believe that Jello is not Black. I seem to recall that Robyn reported, based upon her meeting with him at their Tampa Mini-Bash, that Jello was not black.
Though.....Mudcat also, at one point, claimed to be Black and I refused to believe him. So it could just be an inability on my part to believe that people are black.

Doc, Jello was white as well. He was in the pics from the bash. Robyn let it slip but some already knew. He just played the role of a black guy after people assumed he was black when he used to speak out against Buzzy. I was in those threads speaking out along with Jello and for a brief moment some thought I was black as well. Jello liked the fact that people (not all but some) stereotyped not being racist or defending the rights of minorities as being black so he played along.
