I dont play online poker IMG. Just not the same as live poker, even though I dont play that much either. Online there is no way to read the other players. Maybe betting habbits , but cant pick up on bluffs and things by the way they act.

I would think that it's hard to make money playing online poker since the casino takes a cut of each pot.

I will however play in the SBR tourneys if they decide to have them. Just to have fun and to try to beat up on you fellow forum members.

I used to play online all the time and I still do occassionally, but I'm having trouble trusting online poker too. Even though I've done well in online tourneys, I've seen some flops and hole cards that just can't be random. There's still nothing better than a live No Limit Hold'em Tournament at the local Indian Casino.

I play regularly for small amounts. I would only play big with friends in private.

IMG, you can download one and play just for fun. No need to deposit. Or you can go to a table and watch.

Many poker sites are honest. If you spot collusion report it. Play at the bigger sites such as Party Poker and you are safe. If anyone wants to get in a $100 NL game I'll set up a private table at Party Poker. You can start with up to $100.

There's nothing that I would like more than to get in a real money game with Taco, Brick and Quarm. I could make quite a nice living playing these guys daily.

There's nothing wrong w/ online poker. The games are alot tighter than the live games around here but its cheaper to play online. And you never have to leave the house, and never have to wait for an open seat. The best sites to get started on are the big ones like party & ultimate bet. It used to be my bread & butter til I started taking sportsbetting more seriously.

I would like to echo this post word for word, except I will replace party with full tilt, and ultimate bet with pokerstars.
Also, the games are only tighter at the medium and higher limits, from my experience, and any higher-limit game I've played anywhere has been tight.
It is much cheaper. Not only do you get a sigh-up bonus, sites like FullTilt offer big freerolls to those who build up points (accredited by how much and at what limits you play, similar to Cris's loyalty program). But the most important thing is that since online sites not only get to seat infinitely more players than most poker rooms around the world, they also have your money invested, they don't ask for much in regards to rake, as that is only a fraction of their income.

I just finished my first online poker experience and i believe it
has to be fixed!! I started off at a 0.50-$1 table(hold`em) just to try it out
and after 10 mins i was already up $50. On a table where the avg pot
was $4 i was doing good. No they were just sucking me in... What do
you think I have Ace/2 off suit but that doesnt matter, flop comes
and it's Ace/3/2 so i'm thinking i have the nuts so betting continues then
still 2 people left so i try to suck them in and just check and one guy checks
but the other one bets then i call and so does the other guy. pot gets huge already but i forgot this wasn't the real world,so we raise and re-raise now there's only me and this one guy left, pot is like $18 now river card
comes and its a 3 i'm so excited about what i got i can care less i raise and re raise
i would of went all in if i could of!! So after all the betting and excitement we turn
over our cards I realize this really isn't the real world he has two 3's 4 of a kind!
that wouldn't happen in the real world??? I winded up losing every dollar i deposited.
I'm sticking to football for now!! thanks for letting me share!!

I get so sick of people saying online poker is rigged at the major sites (No offense, imgv and others. I understand that weird things seem to happen more often, but that's because of the whole hands per hour, and the fact that people play badly - enabling them to make what seem to be miraculous suckouts)

TRUE STORY - At a local club, there is a regular $2/$5 NL game that I attend regularly. The normal buy-in is $300. One night this one guy had built his $300 to a little over $600 by winning one huge pot when his pocket 10s busted AK on an A 10 x board. No one else at the table had more than $350. Still, in a span of 5 hands he lost it all against two people who made straight flushes.

First hand, he smooth-called a raise with AK (big mistake against the aggressive player who was trying to steal the blinds; re-raising is the only play here. I digress.) The flop came Ah Kd 3h. The aggressive player bet and was raised. The turn was the 4h. They quickly got it all in, and the aggressor showed the 2h 5h.
A couple hands passed, and an un-raised pot saw a flop of 7d 8d 10d. The same player who had just lost to a straight flush had Ax of diamonds, and another player had the J9 of diamonds for a straight flush.

    Two lessons:
    1. Always be the aggressor.
    2. Online poker is not rigged.

    Sorry for my little diatribe.

Hey,Razz i was being a little sarcastic with my post
but if you are sure it's not rigged than i believe you.
I did go to the higher limit tables and lasted a long time
but lost it all in a 4 min span because of some other
miracles this time not on 34th street but on 5th street.
Well I'm turning 25 in two weeks and might go to vegas
and play poker there i heard thats the best place to play
    now....

obviously, you don't play too much or you would see hands like 4 of a kind from time to time, that's why they have bad beat jackpots! Do you have any idea how many more hands are played per hr online then at a live casino. If you have 20000 people playing like party poker does at one time, there are going to be ton's of bad beats, draws and so forth. If you want a good game get in the 5/10 nl at UB! It is a good paced game

The big sites like party poker have no reason to rig the games. The sites are cash cows. at this point it's like virtually risk free money that they are making every second of the day.

The one thing I really don't like about most of these poker sites is that if they merely think you cheated, they reserve the right to confisctae all of your funds. Now I'm sure most of the players who are accused of cheating likely did cheat. But a certain percentage of them are innocent. And these players have zero recourse. I would not reccomend to anyone that they play somewhere where the poker room could simply steal thier funds, merely by claiming that you cheated. YOu should always ask what happens in the case of a dispute.

i think to be successful at online poker you have to find your niche. I'm terrible at ring games but do okay at the shorthanded sit and goes. It all depends upon preference i guess. I used to play party poker but some of the beats i got there were terrible. It seemed like there were a lot of times people would be getting pocket pairs at the same time. Maybe it's just me though. I trust ACR a lot more for some reason, i don't see as many rivers
