Talking Will this be the next big thing coming to ESPN

ESPN first airs Spelling Bee's, then the world series of Dominos, and I guess the world series of cup staking is next.

It is only a matter of time before rock-paper-scissors makes the air.

The general public are such sheep they'll follow and get involved with anything. Dominoes just doesn't have the structure to become the next poker boom like ESPN thought it would, but something else will in due time....

They did have the world series of darts on fox sports net, and the world series of blackjack on the game show network. So you figure there scouring for new ideas like this stuff all the time.

OMG, I you were right sir. The only thing is that ESPN won't be airing it, but instead it will be on FOX Sports.

Rock Paper Scissors tourney makes the cut on Fox Sports

Wed Jun 11, 1:26 AM ET

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - The USA Rock Paper Scissors League is proving to have staying power in the media industry.

The championship tournament of the league devoted to the playground game is heading to Fox Sports Network as an hourlong "Best Damn Sports Show Period" special October 6.

FSN is the third network to carry the tournament in as many years; it aired on ESPN2 in 2007 and A&E the previous year.

Matti Leshem, USARPS commissioner and executive producer of the shows, called FSN the "spiritual home" of the game. The network aired the International Rock Paper Scissors Championships in 2004, also as a "Best Damn" special that Leshem executive produced, marking the first time an RPS event was televised, he said.

The third annual tourney, sponsored by Bud Light, runs June 20-22 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Professional poker player Phil Gordon will referee the championships for the second consecutive year. He also is a commentator on Bravo's "Celebrity Poker Showdown" and a host of ESPN's "Pro-Am Poker Equalizer."

More than 300 players will compete in this year's event, with the winner receiving a $50,000 grand prize and a trip to Beijing to compete against international champions in an event coinciding with the Summer Olympics.

i remember watching one of those i love the 70's or i love the 80's shows on VH1 and it showed a bunch of old ESPN stuff about when they first started. they had all kinds of off the wall type stuff back in the day.
I'm just glad that faze of those tough man shows is gone. they used to show those damn things all the time a few years back. guys carrying boulders, lifting cars, tossing kegs, etc. I hated that shit.

I loved the Strogest Man shows. Lets see how many of these Yugos filled with molten lead you can carry down the block. I like to refer to the competition as the steriods friendly games.

Seriously, I'm waiting for the World Series of Chess, this would be must see stuff.
