Default Guys, please say a prayer for a long time Rx poster: Harrington

I am waiting for a biopsy on my esopagus and I am very scared!!
Had a scope done last week after 25 years of acid reflux and found out that I have Barrett's Esopagus which is very serious in itself, and then he tells me he took three biopsies because the tissue looked strange to him. I freak out and search the internet for info on Esopagus Cancer and it says it is almost always fatal. Say a prayer for me boys as I am really scared. If anyone has had long standing heartburn get to a doctor and get sceened.

Him and his family will be in my prayers John. Let's hope it is not esopagus cancer. Even it is cancer, it can be defeated. I wish him the best.

Good luck and God bless you. Sometimes we think we are having a bad day if our teams don't cover but in the big picture, that trivial stuff seems so insignificant in the big scheme of things.I recently lost my mom to lung cancer and you realize that you have to make the most of every minute you have gifted to you.I hate to use vulgarities in a serious and sensitive post like this but maybe posts like SBR John's will send a signal never to be an asshole when it's uncalled for and to hug your kids more and tell them you love them more as hard as it is sometimes for us guys who don't like being mushy. You will be in my prayers SB_John

Hey guys I never knew this thread ever existed until I read a post by JJGold on the RX this evening. I was diagnosed almost two years ago with Barrett's Esophagus. At the time three biopsies were taken and I was very scared by what was found. Thankfully the tests were negative and I must be re scoped every year because I am in a very high risk group for cancer. My son was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease as well shortly before called Marfan's syndrome so it was indeed a very scary time in my life. I fell into a deep depression but with the help of my family and doctor's I am doing well. He will almost certainly be looking at some heart surgery down the line and I will continue to get screened and enjoy every day of my life to the fullest. Again reading this thread two years later has indeed touched me and I thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Enjoy life guys because it is indeed very precious. Thanks again SBR John and since I just registered I think I might be visiting this site more.

Glad to hear you made it through everything ok! Sorry to hear about your son though, but I'm almost positive he'll be fine in time. With all the funding that has recently went to medical research, and all the technological advances that they're making, it's reason to be very optimistic. Just like Hulk Hogan used to say...Say your prayers, work out, take your vitamins, and believe in yourself, everything will be ok brother!
