Default ESPN reports that Donavon wants to go back to UF

Magic trying to figure out whether they should oblige.

Kinda surprising to me really. Donavon has none of his starters returning at Florida this year, and I figured for sure he would take the money and run.

Not surprising to me. Maybe Uncle Rick (Pitino) finally told him how sucky the NBA would be for him. There really is no point to him going to the NBA. His two national championships basically keep him in that Florida job for life unless he gets caught in a scandal. So let's see ... job security, not much pressure and a couple million or no job security, tons of pressure and a few more million. Seems easy.

So much easier to recruit and win at Florida than to build the Orlando Magic franchise..

    Can't blame him

It's all about the money. Just take the money, work for a few years and then go live on a beach somewhere. I think if he signed anything with the Magic, he should live with his decision.

He was coaching with Pitino during his stent with the Knicks way back when I do believe. So he does have some knowledge of how the NBA is.

I think Donovan realized that great college coaches do not equate to great NBA coaches. Just look at recent history..

He should have thought about all the negatives BEFORE signing a deal. Magic should hold him to his word...a contract is a contract.

I disagree, Cracker. Everybody makes decisions that they immediately regret -- the pressure of the situation can sometimes confuse people.

There are statutes in place that allow people to back off from buying a home or a car even after signing the dotted line. I believe it's called the "cooling off" period.

Are you telling me you've never made a decision in your life that you regretted the next day?

We're all human, even Billy D. It's because he's in the public eye that the criticism comes in droves with these guys. Cut the guy some slack.

He doesn't deserve any slack. Florida won the national championship on April 2nd. He signed the contract on June 1st. That's two months of time he had to make the decision whether or not to leave. His response wasn't because it was the incorrect thing to do, it was because he was being pressured by those in Gainesville.
