    Default IP checking

It seems a few sites that don't allow americans are now checking IP's. Today a couple of sites wouldn't allow me to log into them given my "Location". The major sites still allowed me without problems to bet tonight's basketball game. I won't mention any names to hopefully keep things alive. Party poker wouldn't allow me to log into either. Party did about 6 weeks ago during my last trip. I guess they are trying to keep out of the DOJ cross hairs.

We will see IP blocking more and more. Proxy services will be blocked as well. Players who travel to the US have said they have success routing back through their home PC.

Its actually quite simple if you are willing to use dial up.

Just get a dialup account in another country and dial in through a local number.

Bill so far I've had to do nothing but log onto the net and log onto my betting accounts. This is the first time I've hit a snag with one sportsbetting account telling me I can't log on. I was gone only 2 days so it was no biggie. However if I travel for 10 days or so I'll probably have to make other arrangements to get my bets up.

not really practical. too slow and too expensive. this won't work if the site is graphical intense.

One option is to find an Internet hosting service that allows SSH access and in whatever country from which you want your IP address to appear and then set up a secure proxy.

It would still be an IP address in the country of your ISP.

You are going to pinnacle, not to download porn.

Trust me - its not too slow, and if 2 cents a minute to a country like France is too expensive, then maybe you shouldnt be trying to bet there anyway.

Setup a VPN in Europe/Asia and you will have access to many Books.

Best way to go about it.

Certainly VPN would ideally be the way to go but it has the disadvantage of generally being rather expensive. SSH tunneling provides a cost-effective and portable solution which can be used with a wide variety of hosting services and free software.

See the Wikipedia stub on SSH tunneling.

That is what I do. There is zero chance of the books blocking this because to the books it looks like a completely legitimate IP. I would not use a free proxy service as they are unreliable.

I also play on party poker every day from the US. However, party does block US IPs 100% as far as we have seen. I am very surprised someone said they can use their party account in the US on a US ip.

Mid April I did have access to Party from South Carolina. This trip from NY state on Saturday I had no access.

Remember you don't only need an Anonymous Proxy. You will also require SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connection as most sites use them.

    https instead of http

Big deal, you fool the site into thinking you are not from the US. What home address you going to use? Where are you going to have your winnings sent?

Ostensibly to the foreign address you already set up prior to investing in an IP masking solution.

This will only work if the ssh server allows port forwarding.

    Yes, that's certainly true.

However, maybe I've just been lucky, but that's never actually been an issue for me with any hosting service that provides SSH access.

Do you think this will be done on just the books end or do you think the ISP's will get involved too? Obviously the ISP block would be much worse.

It's not like it's a genetic trait. If you'd like to be computer savvy, you should become computer savvy. You can become computer savvy from the relative safety of your own home, and it can come in very handy, especially in the sports betting world.

How do you get a dial-up account in another country anyway? And let's say you have a dial-up account in another country how do you set up and fund a Pinny account using that? Big Brother is probably watching so can you just send me a private messge? Thanks

Why would you go through all that trouble to make a bet? Sounds like a gambling problem to me.
