If the points program stopped...?
How many posters will leave? I see on threads of posters with less than 100 posts and over 500 points wen I signed up , there was no points but solid posts that meant something . Posted for knowledge /entertertainment

Paco that is true, I take complete blame for it being as I came up with the points/sportsbook idea.
Posting was up, numbers were up also but quality never took a blow.
I like the idea of mixing up sports talk with whore shit prick pulls but not when that is all the poster does.

There are people here just for the points, so naturally they would leave if the points stopped. Maybe some would stay. But as you said they're easily identified, for the most part, so just ignore them if that's how you feel.
What I don't understand is people saying these posters are ruining the forum, etc... You're here for your reasons and they're here for theirs. You don't have to agree just co-exist They're not hurting you are they?

I love the points... of course they cause me to make a few more posts like this per day then I would otherwise.

Don't get me wrong, I love the points myself. Was just asking how many would just leave in general if it was stopped

I'm not really sure about how far the numbers would drop, but I'd jump on a bet with both feet with Pavy that he's overshot his estimate of post reduction by a good 50% or more.
One thing I am sure of is where as we have one thread in Players Talk right now wondering what would happen, there would be 25 new threads in Players bemoaning the points no longer being in place if the system was stopped.

Points are not going anywhere so no need to discuss any further.

If the Points Program ended, I would still post and contribute here.
The points are simply a bonus, and a nice one indeed.

I posted at Rx but found this place. Immediately liked it better after a couple of days. When I figured out the points that was the icing on the cake. The posters here, for the most part, are here to talk sports & handicapping. But when you just want to BS that's what PT is for. The Think tank here is 10x better than anywhere else also.
I wish when I was young there had been a place like this to hone your skills & talk with like minded people & bet points before you delved into real money. I know there's alot of college kids on here but I think it's a good thing, the dumbasses might learn something instead of playing video games. Gambling teaches you all the lessons you need for life & the younger you learn the better off you'll be.

Points are great. I wouldn't be here everyday probably but I would be here. However, the ghosts would stop and a ton of people would leave calling SBR "cheap" etc.

I use this board to look at other people's plays, although I usually like to go with gut feeling.
The Points and Contests are a great thing by SBR though. I've won some money through both.

But if they were to take away the Points system and take away contests, this place would really only be good for jjgold videos.

How many point whores would leave if they were no longer being fed points? Have they become attached enough to the forum to stay in lieu of? Tough to gauge.
I would post as usual, though points are something I don't care much about.

Great questions and an even better post sickler!
You purchased many items from the SBR Store, right? You posted some photos if I recall.

The only thing I purchased from the store was a charity donation.
I won a contest here. The prize was the Vegas Bash gear given to MrX. Those are the items you're speaking of (hats, shirts, mug, etc....)

The forum about doubled in size each year since year one, well before points. If we didn't have points, we'd like to think the next idea would have been just as much fun.
We have no plans to discontinue the program. The sportsbook and casino has been popular and matchbetting, poker and horse racing is on the way.

JJ, it's not your say what is or isn't discussed. Stay funny but drop the tough guy act, it's pathetic not funny. You are the Steve Martin of SBR not The Don.
Pavy may have exaggerated for impact but the truth in his intent is probably true. Fewer ghost without the rewards of having the points. Would by no means eliminate them.
SBR is a great forum. It was a great forum prior to the points and after. If the points were no longer it would remain to be a great forum. It is a great forum because there are posters here that make it such. The posters have the content that make this place one of the best if not best forums around. Sure the contest are great and the points are nice and all the bells and whistles are great bonuses but it is the posters and what they bring to the table that make SBR forum what it is. Even you JJ.

All this talk about quality dropping because of points.
As I recall, players squawked about quality before points even existed.
It's not about points, it's about players bitching. Players bitch. Period.
