Default What's Your Worst Betting Fault Or Mistake?

What is your worst betting fault or mistake that you make? Do you bet too many games? Are you an impulse bettor? Are your bankroll management skills poor?

My biggest fault is that I play games on intuition late in the week that I had no intention of playing early in the week. Luckily, most of these games have gone in my favor so far this season, but regardless of the outcome, its a mistake and a long term losing habit. I typically like to have my plays in by Tuesday or Wednesday to get the best line value. My problem is that on Friday or Saturday, I'll see a couple plays I like even though my handicapping says I shouldn't play them. Like I said, they've actually done pretty well this year, but its definitely a habit I have to break if I want to maximize my winnings. The only other minor problem I have is that I sometimes doubt myself and my handicapping. I don't do it often, but every now and then a thought creeps in my head and suddenly I'm betting with "scared money." There's always room for improvement...

Anybody else have any glaring faults or bad habits in their sportsbetting?

I would say my main fault would be probably the opposite of that, I lay off a lot of games I like and the majority end up hitting...oh well though, I have just learned the hard way and had late added plays blow up in my face...

My main fault is to make too many parlays and to add too many games to some parlays. Although it built up my bankroll, I lost too many of them out of greed.

I also lost many hockey picks playing the puckline instead of being contented with the moneyline, especially early season when less goals were being scored and more games were ending in a one-goal difference.

I would say its the fact that sometimes i'll play a teaser instead
of a parlay and after the game i didn't even need the extra points.
Also i'll bet a parlay or a teaser with one game i love to another
game that's just there like a sun or monday night game..

I'm a sucker for very low and very high over and unders. When I bet to go over on a low one I think the defense will bound to be slacking and the offense hitting on all cylinders and when I go under on a high one I think the weather will have an affect. It's just so damn tempting to go against the trends even if the teams playing are notorious for high or low scoring justifying a high or low over and under.

    My #1 sportsbetting mistake: IMPULSE!

I'm really undisciplined. But, I make too many impulse picks. I do my analysis, shop lines, etc, etc. But in the end, many times I still go with my gut.

Another impulse mistake I am making is trying to "make it up". I took a backslide this weekend, and now I'm looking at every angle of Steelers-Colts, trying to get back the money I lost over the weekend. I know it's wrong, but I can't help it.

Ideally, I'd go about sports betting scientifically and methodically, collecting information and knowlege, then using this to place good bets.

My worst is trends. If I hit on a trend and make some profit I am far too slow to ditch it when it starts to either fail or become poor value.

my worst fault is, sometimes betting with the public once the line has already moved. case in point was last night with the lakers.

I always seem to lose money at the end of each year, when there are fewer football games to choose from. rather than picking and choosing the best lines, I bet on every game since there are so few of them.

Placing bets or playing in the casino when I'm really hammered.

My biggest mistake is not playing with my gut. A lot of times a line looks good so I'll think of playing, but when it comes down to it I see how many games I'm already playing and I think I can't afford to play anymore

My biggest mistake as a gambler is seeking permanent residency on Cloud 9. If I spent less time dreaming and more time capping, I would do significantly better.

    Impulse bets, definately.

I always tell myself that if I wouldn't have played the MNF game or the Sunday night game as an afternoon game, there's no reason to play it when it arrives. But, inevitably, I end up playing a few just because I'm sitting there focusing on that single game and I want the actions. These aren't necessarily my best capped games and I need to stay away from them.

I also need to stop playing 2nd half bets that I didn't think about before the game. Some teams tend to have certain 2nd-half trends, and I try to stick close to those, but then I'll see a game going completely backward of what I expected and adjust my thought process for that single half instead of typical play by the teams. Bad idea.

I've played 4 times at betcris 3-card poker when I was bored and no games to play. Won 3 out of 4. Won't tell you how much I won, it'll just frustrate you more.

I did something stupid last night...after a good night in college hoops I bet Temple -1 (-110) right away before really handicapping the game...first of all, I hate paying -110 for a wager and second of all I hate rushing a play...turns out that All-American (alleged, that is) candidate Mardy Collins goes 0/9 from the field and has 9 TO's...on the flip side, I wait until right before game time and lock in Oregon +9.5 and it hits fairly easily...
